Emelianenko-Buentello Fight Called Off At Affliction: Banned Weigh-ins

Aleksander did not receive medical clearance to fight so the Aleksander Emelianenko vs Paul Buentello bout have be remove from the event unless there is later approval.

The two fighters were not called out to weigh in in their proper order and after all other fighters had been weighed it was learned that Emelianenko was unable to receive medical clearance.

All of the other fighters made weight for the Affliction: Banned event.

Update: Gary Goodridge will now replace Aleks to fight Paul Buentello.

Affliction Vice President Tom Atencio and Emelianenko declined to comment after the weigh ins. Does this mean there might still be a chance for this fight yet?

yeah Hepatitis is the same thing I heard as well from a few sources.

Gary Goodridge will be his replacement.

My guess Buentillo smashs him. Good for Paul because he woulda had a real tough time with Aleks who is one of my favorite fighters (granted i am biased due because I am Russian.)

WTF?? Hepatitis? Damnit! That would have been the ultimate gate keeper fight. Both of these guys fold against top flight competition so it would have been interesting to see how it played out. Maybe someone should slip Buentello some Hepatitis so it would be a mutual risk thing.

wow. I’m really quite bummed about this. Had this been a UFC card we’d be left with a night full of nobodies. Thankfully this is the most stacked card EVER!

I have to totally disagree with what you are saying about the UFC being full of nobodies. Alex was not even the main event or Co main event. The UFC has never been deeper at each Weight Class and the competition is at it’s best. Think before you write.
