Alvarez passed straight to mount after the hip toss but it was a bad idea. He should have got the hell out of there. Shinya has one hell of a grip. It looks like Eddie blew out his ankle fighting the hold. Hope he recovers quickly.

That was a great win by Aoki… its probably the greatest win in his career. As for his jiujitsu… it isnt at the highest tier lvl when it comes to out and out submission grappling aspects. As far as adapting his ground game to MMA the guy has done a great job, probably one of best in the world at that aspect.

But it is true that his jiujitsu is not at the lvl of the guys mentioned previously. That being said, it doesnt fucking matter.

This was the most legitimate fight on the K1 card. Wasn’t a freak show, no questions about steroids, no costumes (except 4 Aoki’s pants). Just two great lw mma fighter. Aoki’s Jiu Jitsu is ridiculous. He swept a guy from the mount into a leg lock. What the ??!!!! People might debate about who the greatest bjj guy is in mma, but Aoki’s submissions are flashy and exciting to watch. This is how ground fighting should be in MMA.

Everyone that talks shit on the whole wamma thing isn’t looking far enough ahead. By ranking fighters like Aoki ahead of Penn etc they are setting the stage for yet another clash between the worlds top organizations. The clash between Pride and UFC produced some of the best MMA fights in history. Rampage vs Hendo is one that always pops into mind, man what a fight. On that note all of you who say Aoki could even hold a candle to BJ Penn crack my shit. Though Aoki may be a cunt hair more technical, BJ’s strength and grittiness would easily carry him through not one but 3 out of 3 fights against this guy.
