Hate to see Alvarez get a concussion because of brain damage risk. It kind of takes the fun out of watching fighters knowing that they are sustaining potentially life changing injuries.

Fighters obviously know the risk before they get into it, so people who complain about injuried to fighters are silly. It’s why they get paid so much. No one is forcing them to fight.

I hate to see fighters sustain dangerous injuries, but the danger goes right to the heart of why this sport is so interesting. Training helps someone develop technical skills, as well as their strength and conditioning, but this game is really about survival instincts and digging deep to find enough heart to rise up in the face of such severe danger. Eddie Alvarez is a beast and he showed profound heart throughout the course of this fight, as well as all of his other fights, but he didn’t tap because Michael Chandler just caught him in a good choke. Chandler was able to get the choke, because Alvarez was rocked and started to psychologically break. That fight could’ve gone either way and both men should be proud of their performances… Although Alvarez might have a considerably tougher time doing that. The next one will be a war if Alvarez can survive being rocked early again. Can’t wait!

Wow! What a great fight! I haven’t seen too much of Alvarez before, but I think I remember his striking being a lot sharper in other fights. He didn’t look very technical at all. Man, if Chandler can’t take a beating…
