The Fight Network does a good 1 on 1 interview with Diego Sanchez. This gives a better look at Diego’s personality and he doesn’t come over as the nut case many people perceive him to be.

The thing with Guida is he doesn’t let you breathe and get started. It’ll be interesting to see if he can impose that gameplan on Sanchez. I think this will be a close fight.

i think diego would have done much better against alves than koscheck..just my opinion…i think the interesting thing w/ guida vs. diego is that cardio isn’t an issue since both guys are top of the food chain, but diego really has more tools…guida’s main tool is to smother and wear out his opponent, which i don’t think will work against diego…i say diego by ko 3rd round

I love Diego but feel he is less “animalistic” over the last couple of years. He needs to go back to his old ways a bit. He lost to Koscheck for lack of aggression.

I don’t know why people are so disrespectful to to fighters whose jockstraps they couldn’t begin to lift. It’s the limbic nature of the sport, I guess, but with all due respect to the commenters here, Sanchez is a *man*, not a couch-philosopher critic. He’s not retarded, he’s single-minded and determined and making the best of his life.

He’s an iconoclast, love him or hate him.

Yomama: Diego had a *bad* — atomic — staph infection the size of a softball in his leg when he fought Koschek. Most people would be flat on their back with their eyes crossed, barely able to raise their arms, but Sanchez went out there and did what he was contractually obligated to do. So of course, everyone rails on about what a wuss he was.

Guida won’t last until the final buzzer. I like Guida — he’s a real fighter too — but proverbially speaking, he’s the guy in the exhaust-filled hold of a ship sailing out of Istanbul clamping some drunken crewman named Demetri. All credit to him — what grippiness, what determination, what balls — but Sanchez has waaaay more of that, plus more skill.

Sanchez will stop him.

Don’t expect Sanchez to stop Guida. He’s got it in his head that he’s a boxer now. After seeing this, I honestly see him as much less of a douche, but he’s still got a lot to prove. He says he attacks weaknesses which honestly I can mostly agree with. Head did exactly the right thing by boxing with “Daddy”, but Guida (forget Silva, if you’re gonna bitch about a boring fighter it should be Clay Guida), will not stop, and will push hard the whole time.
