I’m still looking for the “fake tap”.

KungFuLowKick Says, in 11-17-2013 at 11:00:44 from

No fake tap here. GSp let go of the choke because he would’ve been swept if he didn’t.

Gymrat169 Says, in 11-17-2013 at 11:14:50 from

I saw it and when the fight wasn’t stopped I was hoping GSP would win the decision!!!

OscarMayhem Says, in 11-17-2013 at 11:17:36 from

Straight up BS. GSP lost that fight big time! After the fight, GSP’s face looked like a canned tomato after being taken out of the dryer set on towels, and Johny looked like he spent the day at the spa. In GSP’s defense, he has a lot of the cute girl fans that know nothing about fighting. Man, what a robbery! The Ron Ford and his crack smoking brethren is making a lot more sense now.

Seen It From Another Angle. I Thought He Was Tapping.

charnc1122 Says, in 11-17-2013 at 11:26:50 from

Man, all the hate and hard comments about GSP, I just don’t get it. He goes in and fights his ass off, shows class and respect to his opponents, and is a great ambassador to the sport. Yea, it was a close fight. I have GSP winning, but I can easily see how other have Hendricks winning. In my opinion, the champ should and usually does get the nod on close fights. That’s not GSP’s fault. All the dude does is fight hard and show class, yet all this hate? I don’t get it. I do get the hate showed towards Jon Jones because of his strange attitude and out of the ring hypocritcal behavior. But I don’t see what is to hate about George. Just seems like a cool dude who fights hard. Hats off to Hendricks for a great fight and game plan, maybe he will KO George next time, guess we will see.

Did Johny Hendricks False Tap To Make GSP Let Go In Round 1? Simple answer…no.

DNOMYAR Says, in 11-17-2013 at 11:58:38 from

I thought he tapped when I was watching it live, the video doesn’t lie.

I thought he was tapping when I watched it live, but the choke wasn’t nearly tight enough. So not sure what that was about.

chookcha Says, in 11-17-2013 at 12:37:08 from

First of all where is the knockckout this dude promised and made a lot of ppl buy ppv for another 5round decision??? Guess it wasn’t as easy as he thought and now he cries for the decision loss…About the tap it looks like a tap but I don’t think he’d risk having the fight stop to escape this position so it must be unintentional.I don’t know if it’s just me but GSP looked very small and weak in comparison to all previous fighs. Might be a health issue which leads to this retirement talk who knows.

RAGINCAJUN Says, in 11-17-2013 at 12:39:48 from

Sure looked like a tap to me. It was soft but he did it three times. Fishy. Having said that, I don’t think it caused GSP to let go, GSP knows very well to wait for the ref to stop the fight before letting go of the hold.

Ground St-Pound Says, in 11-17-2013 at 12:44:24 from

There was no tap.

From my user name, you know who I supported in this fight. But GSP lost. I had it 4 rounds to 1 GSP. He got beat round by round, and GSP is the round by round prodogy. Hendricks shut him down like he usually shuts ppl down.

Still love GSP, but he lost and it is not classy to be given a gift/robbery decision and not give your opponent and everyone else an opportunity to see the rematch ASAP. He can’t retire now without seriously tarnishing his name. He owes Hendricks a rematch. Who wants to retire like this??

Last piece, he knows Hendricks bullrushes like that. Why he didn’t practice stepping back on angles more and returning fire more comfortably, I don’t know.

Pooly Says, in 11-17-2013 at 13:05:48 from

GSP got his ass beat, and he knows it….not his fault in the end, but a pathetic decision nonetheless………all you GSP fanboy dickriders can ACT like he won the fight but you know he didn’t….or you didn’t even watch…..pathetic…GSP got his ass beat but still keeps his title….makes it difficult to keep watching this s***

wow Says, in 11-17-2013 at 13:06:48 from

If GSP had made that tap all the haters would have been jumping on it. No one is going to take a chance of pretending to tap in a title fight for fear the fight would get stopped. Hendricks taps at the same time GSP lets go of the choke. Why else do you explain Hendricks tapping GSP’S thigh?

FailSonnen Says, in 11-17-2013 at 13:26:07 from

I don’t think GSP woulda had tthat choke on tight. He had Hendricks left arm in the way and he didnt have good positioning so he bailed on it. Hendricks just looked like he was struggling/scrambling to get out so he was just trying to find a sold place to put his hand to deliver a sweep while also trying to hook GSP’s leg

dub Says, in 11-17-2013 at 13:39:50 from

lets just humor this and say that he didn’t tap.. but how do you explain that tapping motion? I mean, i don’t even know what strike or grappling move involves an arm waving like a tap when you’re on the bottom?? a sweep does not involve a tap to the thigh.. and i how the heck is that a strike to the thigh? Let’s not humor this.. it was a tap flat out.

lllibbbo Says, in 11-17-2013 at 13:53:51 from

from the technique perspective, johnny really has no reason to tap at that position.

and that was too brief…

earthismyturf Says, in 11-17-2013 at 14:26:01 from

I had GSP 1,3&5 and Hendricks 3&4 with one of those being more of a 10/8 round for Hendricks can’t remember which one I think it was four; it was definitely the round where Hendricks almost knocked gsp’s head off with hooks and uppercuts
round one for me could have went either way but I had gsp stealing the round with the leg & head kick/s…
I love both of these guys stylistically, technically and their fighters heart is unquestionable but I think the only real thing we can all agree on is there needs to be a rematch…
I love gsp but I think he has plateaued and Hendricks striking is still quite RAW and will he will undoubtedly become more dangerous with this experience, and will KO gsp in the re-match…

Moon Says, in 11-17-2013 at 15:01:27 from

Hendricks used his forearm to create distance and to use Pierre’s leg to push off. That’s what I think but not a tap.

anakonda Says, in 11-17-2013 at 15:16:48 from

What if, what if. Hendricks should have stopped GSP, you are always at disadvantage as a challenger, why the heck Johny thought he can fight for points and then he will win?
GSP made good connections as well, Hendricks head is like a rock.Judges don’t look at the swellings and bruises.
Johny got over confident. Go for the kill if you are fight for the belt as a challenger, what were you thinking??

doctaphil Says, in 11-17-2013 at 15:36:22 from

look at his elbow and how it was pressed against gsp’s leg, his hand wasnt even moving it was just the pressure from pushing his elbow against gsp’s leg, watch it close, no hand movement and all elbow struggle.

doctaphil Says, in 11-17-2013 at 15:40:42 from

as well as GSP Literally let go of johhny at the same time his elbow starting pushing on his leg because he saw the switch coming

ETK Says, in 11-17-2013 at 16:08:21 from

Looks like maybe Hendricks was about to tap, but then GSP let go unaware of what he had.
Question is who would have won the struggle, GSP to maintain that position, or Hendricks to get out of it. With Hendricks about to tap like that, I suggest that GSP would have won the struggle, Hendricks would not have been able to get out of it, and Hendricks would have tapped, because he was focused on the tap not on the escape.

RocknRollMullet Says, in 11-17-2013 at 16:53:29 from

I think that after reading all of the posts we can all agree on one thing; Hendrick’s hand did move in a tapping motion at Gsp’s thigh. Whether if this is coincidence or forced we cannot know. However, it seems unlikely that a fighter in a championship fight would risk such a movement during a GSP near full-mount guillotine choke knowing that the fight could easily be ended. My personal opinion is that it looks like Hendricks was tapping to the guillotine. The people on here that pretend to be professionals by saying that the choke from that position has clearly never been submitted by it; I have and it hurts, that being said it rarely submits professional fighters but sometimes, sometimes is goes in so deep that it almost immediately forces a tap or unconsciousness such as in Jones vs Machida. Those who are saying that he was trying to sweep him are failing to understand that a sweep is a reverse that is successful due to explosiveness and force, no a weak irratic tapping motion on the face of a person’s thigh. Hendrick’s is a professional; he knows how to sweep (he was not trying to “set it up” as so many of you have falsely said.” That being said, Hendrick’s didn’t do enough, those that have seen the compustats know that GSP landed more significant strikes, had a better significant strike percentage, had more successful takedowns, and nearly land a submission in the first. Purely by the numbers GSP clearly beat Hendrick’s; the judges weight physical appearance (damage) very lightly. Let’s now look on to the rematch!

ETK Says, in 11-17-2013 at 16:58:11 from

What doctaphil wrote makes sense.
GSP’s thigh was against Hendrick’s forearm and GSP’s movements caused Hendrick’s hand to move in that manner.
Initially I thought it was just some luck postion for GSP which GSP was unaware of.
But after reading doctaphil’s comment I’m leaning that way.

@charnc1122 – You are exactly right. Those hater types are ignorant period. They have no honor and always have to say something bad to feel better about themselves. I rewatched the fight and again had GSP winning. Its not about who looks more damaged, some people have weaker skin. GSP landed more shots in the rounds 1,3 and 5. Just because jonny didn’t get that hurt doesn’t not mean gsp didn’t land.

the shadoe Says, in 11-17-2013 at 18:02:08 from

For all the GSP haters saying he lost the fight he won rounds 1,3 &5 and if you judge the fight by the way one looks then go back to the UFC of the old where you needed a knock out to win if you look at the bout fact which most of you did not you would see that GSP landed more shots then Hendricks it is not GSP fault that he cut easily and we all know that in order for their be a change in title holder you need to knock out the Champ and that is something Hendricks did not achieve so stop crying about it.

BJJBrownBelt Says, in 11-17-2013 at 19:08:38 from

Very convincing optical illusion! He’s not tapping though, not touching GSP’s hip with his hand. It’s the Hendricks’ elbow vibrating on GSP’s thigh that creates the hand movement. If you play the vid frame by frame you see that GSP lets go of the choke the moment JH’s elbow touches his front thigh, BEFORE the “tap”. GSP knows to better his position at this point.

Twana Says, in 11-17-2013 at 19:54:12 from

Marxx Says, in 11-17-2013 at 23:24:11 from

McClinchey Says, in 11-17-2013 at 23:34:49 from

I couldn’t figure out where ppl are getting a fake tap out of that…Hendricks uses his right elbow to move gsps thigh his hand is probably like 5 inches away from gsp its just the camera angle genious’.

zagor Says, in 11-18-2013 at 00:10:42 from

So, conclusion is that Johnny was pushing with his elbow which made his hand start shaking?
That makes a lot of sense….not…perhaps if he was not trained professional and was 10th round and his muscles were tired.
Stop hating and let them fight again to settle this.

KingDavis45 Says, in 11-18-2013 at 00:26:36 from

Im a fan of both but that def wasn’t a tap. GSP choke subs aren’t that great and from the top he couldn’t have had any leverage. Plus GSP wouldn’t make a rookie mistake by letting go early unless the ref breaks it up. Johny clearly won that fight. True don’t leave it up to the judges. GSP trying to take a break now that someone actually beat the breaks off of him. Why would you make that announcement right after the fight?

lllibbbo Says, in 11-18-2013 at 01:44:10 from

why would he tap with his right hand go all the way to gsp’s thigh, while his left hand was on gsp’s back the whole time…

this is ridiculous

no tap at all.his elbow rubbed against st.pierres shorts, resulting in a stop and go motion of two dry surfaces touching.ask gsp,he should know about that ;)

Dazedfighter Says, in 11-18-2013 at 13:33:37 from

Clearly not a tap, if you look at the battle of the legs as soon as Johnny gets the half guard and GSP fails to get full mount GSP lets go to avoid the sweep.

I know GSP looks like the bad guy here but I blame this loss on Hendricks. He said it himself he was only throwing at 70%. what kinda bullshit is that this isn’t a sparring match this is a UFC World Title match Go 100% secure the win, his own fault for losing.

Ricky Says, in 11-18-2013 at 14:36:51 from

Clearly a tap! Dana should be bitching about the ref not the judges. He’s just pissed the biggest PPV draw retires with the belt.

High Stakes Says, in 11-18-2013 at 16:36:41 from

yea that was clearly a tap! I saw it in real time and I don’t know how no one else is talking about this??? obviously he starts tapping as gsp is letting go but I still think it should have been brought up! SO surprised that no one asked in the post fight press conference or media scrum???

cranberry Says, in 11-18-2013 at 17:21:23 from

If you look closely you can see what really happened. Hendricks grabbed gsp’s balls with his right hand forcing gsp to release his death grip.

Krayon Says, in 11-18-2013 at 18:04:09 from

Fight metrics gave it to Hendricks .

Rugburn Says, in 11-18-2013 at 19:42:17 from

First off do you think GSP would’ve just go on without immediately complaining???
Lastly, if GSP let go that’s his own fault. You don’t let go until the ref calls it. Anyhow any real MMA fighter knows what a real tap is and this is no where near one.

NotVinnieJones Says, in 11-18-2013 at 21:21:10 from

For all you who are fooling yourselves into thinking Hendrix tapped, right click on the GIF, click on “Play Speed” then “Slow Motion”. After that you can actually see these “taps” occurring AFTER gsp let go of the hold, not to mention that none of those “taps” touched GSP.
Why would Hendrix tap after the hold is released? Why would the ref stop the fight if Hendrix isn’t actually tapping anything but just moving his hand in the air?
I’d like to see someone still argue how it was a legitimate tap after watching it in slow motion. I would lol at that.

noUsername Says, in 11-19-2013 at 19:30:35 from

It was a tap. I think Hendricks knowingly tapped in such a way to try and get GSP to let go. I also think GSPs weight and leverage was in such a way downward on Hendricks’ neck that he (and GSP) both knew it was dangerous for JH. Which is why he moved his hand from the inside of GSP’s leg to the outside, not to move GSP’s leg up, but to tap. GSP knew he got dupped, and went on, and did not say anything because he has class. For me, that made the next 4 rounds = the rematch. But since GSP tied the last 4 rnds, that gives GSP a win and a draw. and JH a draw and a loss. and a handkerchief to cry in. I lost a lot of respect for JH.

NotVinnieJones Says, in 11-19-2013 at 20:53:23 from

^^^^ obviously someone didn’t take my advice and watch it in slow motion. Either that, or some people are so diluted that that can’t accept the fact that it wasn’t a tap, despite the proof being in front of their eyes!! Once again…use the slow-motion option of the video, people, so you don’t end up sounding like a complete idiot like ^^^^

pezdacanuck Says, in 11-20-2013 at 16:38:08 from

I used to box, and cuts to the face don’t mean jack. It looks like a tap out, but since GSP was letting go, it doesn’t matter. GSP took the decision. If another fight happens again, so be it.

The real issue are comments from White and Rogan. Both of these guys are little more than money grabbing twits. Rogan’s comments were especially worthless.

pwrshot Says, in 11-21-2013 at 03:05:27 from

How is that so many continue to judge the fight based on the appearance of Georges face? Does that mean BJ Penn also beat GSP when his nose was busted up? A fight is not based on facial damage alone. You need to count all the strikes which are landed, did GSP continually land strikes over and over?
If GSP didn’t say he needed time away from the sport do you really think White would of made the same comments? If GSP said nothing of this White would of had another story to tell. “It was a close fight but George landed more strikes and when it is close the edge always goes to the Champion”.

RjWoods Says, in 11-21-2013 at 20:15:41 from

From section 207 of the garden arena I thought the fight could have went either way when it was done. Not knowing about the tapp at that time. I clearly see this video as a tapp that was missed.
I agree with the judgeing totally and that you can not judge the winner by war wounds. GSP deserved the win. Looking forward to the rematch
