Dream 2 fight video of Denis Kang Vs Gegard Mousasi at Olympia DREAM 2 - Middleweight Grand Prix 2008 Opening Round.
That was a thoroughly embarrassing loss to somebody who hardly should have been in the tournament to begin with, against one of the favourites.
Obvious triangle.
I’m shocked at Kang letting that go.
Very little to no credit at all given to Mousasi
wow. hook, line and sinker. kang put his arm right in for the taking….
while he was on top though, i saw a lot of GSPs wrestling style in him. he needs his speed and aggression now. and his brains… maybe he got caught in the moment and blanked out, but that was a pretty obvious no no that he committed
I thought that was the weakest triangle submission I’ve ever seen. It was loose, his arm wasn’t even across his neck. Bullshit. Pathetic.
that looked fishy : /
Kang looked like he threw that one. Watch how he lets himself get into position for the triangle.
Idk………..
Kang is incredibly over rated, he’s a solid guy but he’s not top ten material at this point in time.
Mousasi is a very highly touted young prospect, him and Hector Lombard are two very under rated guys who will make a name for themselves in the next year or two.
wut an embarassement for denis kang, more training
he just simply got caught by weaker guy. This is why jiu jitsu is called the gentle way. You get sloppy you get caught
well thats what happens when you lunge into someones guard with your head down.
the thing that bugs me about kang is that he always looks poised and talented in his fights, does really well, and then lets himself get caught with something and ends up losing. oh well, live & learn.
WTF…Come on Kang…That was his fight…Apparently..
lol owned … over hyped peice of crap ..
You guys are a bunch of know it all assholes. Mousasi is a badass and so is Kang. Kang made a mistake and Mousasi took advantage. Kang shouldnt be embarassed, all you queers talking shit about a guy that could literally kill you with his bare hands in so many ways.
I honestly don’t think that was fixed. That was simply poor defense against good BJJ.
I think Mousosi lucked out. kang is a much better fighter with great skills. he must of got caught up in the moment
lol denis kangs face went from im kickin ass to, oh shit .. .
To the poster who thinks that Kang should be embarrassed, perhaps you should put yourself in the ring and see how you’d fare. In fighting, anything can happen, a ko, a submission. Things happens and you go on. Kang will come back stronger than ever.
theres no question this was fixed. Kang had plenty of space and time to pull out of that. this is very disalusioning
If Kang in fact did not throw that fight, i could beat him in a jiu jitsu match, and im a white belt
Total work.
Honestly, it looks like Kang threw the fight. He wasn’t going after the Kimura very aggressively once he had it locked up, and then he puts his head and one arm into the guard and doesn’t pull out despite ample opportunity. I’m not saying I’m certain he threw the fight, I’m saying either that’s what happened or he did something so monumentally stupid that he might as well have thrown it and at least made a buck in the process.
For those who think this fight is fixed… seriously why would they want Mousasi to win over Kang? You do realize K-1 has a VERY large Korean fan base and by having Kang move on and possibly re matching Akiyama would make them way more money then Mousasi.
Kang was simply lazy and got caught for being so.
hmmm this actually looks suspicious.
Denis Kang probably know that he can win kinda easy on the stand up and actually he was doing it.
why did he take Gegard Mousasi down? well let’s say that was a Mistake.then in the ground he dont put much effort on finish the fight and finally he give his head and arm and stay steady, he make the most elemental Mistakes in MMA.
Denis Kang is 29 - 10 - 1 is not new on the sport.
this make me think he just give the fight away.
that mousashi b*tch kicked like my little nephew.
what a pussy!
shame for sports
Lol wtf was he thinking throwing his head in like that!?
Dont think he threw the fight at all, some people on this just love controversy tho i guess..
Kang can’t be THAT bad at Jiu-Jitsu, he has 14 wins via submission! On the other side of that, he has 6 losses due to submission.
DC makes a good point, it looked like Kang could have stepped over Mousasi’s head and finished that Kimura.
Watch the fight again, and see if it makes sense that Kang’s gameplan was to come out and fight, but make sure not to stop the guy. Then get caught and lose, but try to make it look real. I don’t know if it was a work, because I haven’t seen Kang fight much.
It’s either a work, or Kang really, REALLY needs to work on submission defense.
I was really impressed by kang, I had never seen him fight prior to this and thats probably my ignorance, but he came out and thoroughly handled gegard until getting caught, I thought the kimura was the end of it but I’m glad to see gegard win, he’s more talented then I think this message board gives him credit for, he’s like 23 or something and is already 21-2 now. lol The only thing that made me aware of Mousasi was a fight he had with cyborg and made him look stupid and shitty, which may not be that hard to do, I don’t know, but you guys should watch that fight if you want a good laugh, GO Gegard Mousasi
This fight is not fixed. I’m pretty sure it would take a lot of dough for Kang to throw such an important fight. Most fighters are more in it for the pride than the money anyway. He’s not going to jeopardize his career over it. You have to stop making excuses.
He was frustrated and pushing for something that wasn’t there, and he got caught in a moment where he lost his composure. It was a mental thing, not a question of skill. Kang will come back better than before, no question.
Kang kind of dropped the ball there.
that was the most blatant work i have ever seen
it looked like kang thought he’d drop right into mousasi’s guard by dropping in with some punches, but mousasi grabbed his left arm and kept his leg up preventing his shoulder from passing through. mousasi just anticipated what kang wanted to do and set up the triangle. it didn’t look fixed, it just looked like kang underestimated his opponent and got a little sloppy, then got caught.
MMA guys need to work their open guard passing its horrible they just try to force there way through and look for a big right hook and Kang tried to do the same thing and got triangled he didnt even try to exlopde out of it either and he had time to get out of it very dissapointing and sad.
Didn’t Kang beat Ninja a few years back?
Nobody threw anything…looks like a case of lack of respect for a groundgame, dude couldn’t punch so you knew he had some skills somewhere.
fixed no shit yes.
Very, very amateur mistake made by Kang. He should’ve let him stand and throw some strikes.
I don’t think these fights are real.
Wow…I read most of the responses of this video before watching it. I don’t know about it being fixed, but, that triangle didn’t look that tight. Even with Mousasi pulling down on Kang’s head, it didn’t seem like Mousasi was even flexing his leg muscles to make the hold tighter.
As soon as Mousasi got Kangs head, Kang instantly tapped. Kang didn’t fight the hold, struggle, or try to get out. He tapped pretty fast IMO.
But then again, I’ve never been put in a triangle choke to a professional MMA fighter.
Worked fights get no respect. This is another kurt Pelligrino vs nate diaz BS or coleman vs takada. I’m sick of it!!!
Kang is one of the best fighters. It´s not the first time he´s tricked by his instinct, but I am sure he´ll overcome and keep his top standard.
Greetings from Rio!
Congratulations DK!

Thta was the most fixed fight I have ever seen. And Kang made sure it looked as fixed as it was just so everyone would know it was fixed. They must have Black mailed him in some way or something. That was brutal to watch, he wasn;t choking or in any sort of pain, he never tried to get out of it or prevent it….watching it in slow motion s painful for me.
