Why didn’t Fedor just sign with the UFC? –

Fedor’s interview: “I never met Dana White, never spoke to him on the phone, never exchanged e-mails. However, I did read a lot on the Internet about what he said in regard to me and Vadim. I also read e-mails that he sent to Vadim; all of his correspondence was very upsetting.

The contract that we were presented with by the UFC was simply impossible, couldn’t be signed, I couldn’t leave. If I won, I had to fight eight times in two years. If I lost one fight, then the UFC had the right to rip up the contract. At the conclusion of the contract, if I am undefeated, then it automatically extends for an as yet unspecified period of time, though for the same compensation.

Basically I can’t leave undefeated. I can’t give interviews, appear in films or advertising. I don’t have the right to do anything without the UFC’s agreement. I could do nothing without the OK from the UFC. I didn’t have the right to compete in combat sambo competition. It’s my national sport. It’s the Russian sport, which I no longer have the right compete in.

There were many such clauses; the contract was 18 pages in length. It was written in such a way that I had absolutely no rights while the UFC could at any moment, if something didn’t suit them, tear up the agreement. We worked with lawyers who told us that it was patently impossible to sign such a document.”

SOME OF THE UFC CONTRACT TERMS:
-The Agreement grants likeness rights to Zuffa on a worldwide, exclusive basis, an exclusive license prohibiting even the sale of autographed photographs.The term of it lasts FOREVER, and the Marketing Rights for fighter are held by Zuffa EVEN AFTER A FIGHTER IS CUT. It operates to strip the fighter himself of the opportunity to profit on his own Identity in the marketplace.

He doesnt want to be owned by a company for a lifetime, plus he’s been competing in Sambo for years and never got hurt. Why would Fedya sign his life, freedom and rights away? He’s already a recognized and popular fighter worldwide, he’s not a newcomer to MMA.

Last 3: didnt’t go through, didn’t go through, Harley Davison is a sponsor. The only thing I can think of is that maybe TUF will be on NBC or Fox or something. Hey, dirty: thanks for the info. That only adds to Fedor’s respectability and throws some more dirt on DW’s slavery-like contracts.
It would be nice to see all top UFC fighters getting together and suing DW for abusive working conditions and copyright infringements.
Fighters should be free to do whatever they want as long as they show up in good condition for the fights.
And that “forever” clause is a textbook abusive clause. Actually, it is very close to a real modern slavery situation.
All that is just to say: Fedor still is THE BEST HW in the WORLD and Dana White can only cry about it and put that fake Lesnar as champion.

i dont know why a lot of people hate on kimbo from day one. the guy has never had any real pro training before training with bas. but the man goes from the backyard to main event with only his heart on his sleeve, two fists, and his beard. of course he’s not a complete mma fighter, he never had the time to train and evolve into one. Randy couture was a wrestling coach, not a mma fighter when he first fought in the UFC. he had to evolve into the fighter he became.

Mad respect to Kimbo for steppin up to this. the man is coming unto the biggest stage, with his heart, two fists and his beard, going up against all the haters, all the media critics, dana whites critisism, and all the pressure of the entire mma world watching and waiting to see him fail or succeed. i hope this turns into a real life Rocky story.

at least he wants to make something of himself and is willing to risk everything and losing it all to you haters to do so.
