i am not a ‘butt hurt’ diaz fan. In my opinion, Diaz won the first 2 rounds, and dominated round 5. condit won 3 and 4. You could make an argument that Condit won round 2, and thus possibly the fight, but I would respectfully disagree. Diaz showed that he is the better overall fighter, but he needs to focus if there is a rematch. Condit did not win me over as a fan with that fight. He played to an effective strategy, but in his other fights, he showed more aggression and doggedness. He showed fearlessness against Hardy. Both fighters played this fight somewhat safe because so much was riding on the line.

I hope there is a rematch. Supporting a fighter does not mean that somewhat is riding their ass. Please don’t let d-bags turn this website discussion into another Sherdog circle jerk.

I’m just amazed by all the people who just pretend that Condit didn’t land any punches in that fight. He landed plenty, and some strong ones too. A couple times Diaz landed some good body punches and got off a few to the head, but it just wasn’t enough. Those desperation submission attempts at the end to try to win the fight were just that. Diaz knew he was losing and had to go for the sub. People might not like the style, but Condit won plain and simple. This is going to be a better fight anyway. Condit has a much better shot against GSP than Diaz does. Maybe all of you just want to see Diaz get owned.

i both like diaz and condit and agreed with the judged. Diaz didn’t push the pace like he normal did, he looked slow like he couldn’t pull the trigger like he normal does. Besides that condit had the right gameplan, you simply don’t stand before diaz, that dude can take more damage than you, so you simply don’t stand and bang with him if you got any brains

Condit landed a lot of leg kicks, which apparently count the same as punches to the head and body and power shots, which Diaz landed more of. Also Diaz went for 2 submission attempts in beautiful fashion based on the time he had. He would have kept the back if he had more time, but he transitioned to armbar beautifully because he only had 10 or so seconds on the clock. It was like watching a basketball player running down the shotclock to go for a last minute 3. Go for broke, that’s what people pay to see. Condit got out of the armbar but right as the horn went, Diaz was in the process of rolling into a leglock. If the fight is to be counted on amount of strikes landed regardless of power or intention then Condit wins. MMA needs to be scored differently. Leg kicks should not be on par with strikes to body and head especially if they’re not seen to hinder the mobility of the other fighter in the least. Push kicks especially. Holy cow. Why do those even count? Seriously? Front leg push off to your opponents’ shin? I think judges have to be mindful of the effect of the landed strikes as well. Diaz looked like he could have gone 5 more rounds, and gladly would have.

Diaz lost because Condit used Machida’s elusive run backward and counterstrike game. It sucks but it scores points. I don’t like it either.

Wow!! First time ever but I agree with everything posted before me. Except I will watch Condit fight again, he lost (in my oppinion) but fought a smart fight. And Fat Country Nelson lost but is still a beast. Would love to see him lose that gut and go to 205..

@Roe Jogan i think he was more bummed then anything.he knew the gsp diaz fight would have been bigger.condit did win clearly by landing a lot more shots.

You gotta remember these guys think they won because they hurt the other guy, pushed the pace, and did not feel threatened by their opponent. We that are watching know its a sport based on points… the right people won.
