Dana White Talks UFC Money vs Boxing Money.
Wow an employees cheque never bounced! Impressive.
I think that was a good point. The MMA world is still so young when compared to other sports.
NFL has been around for about 90 years, but who’s counting.
How much money does an undercard boxer make? The least I’ve ever seen a UFC fighter bring home is $4000, and that was for a loss on the undercard of a Spike TV event.
So young but still raking in the $… doesn’t matter how old it is.
Ok Dana I see your point but please explain why some of your fighters only make 1000 in a fight thats what people dont get it’s not the Diaz’s and those guys. I am also not so sure about the 40 millionaires and 20 multimillionaires comment please release the names of these ppl and their earnings.
I can’t wait until 5-7 years from now.. there will be no *new* Mayweathers or Pacquiaos making that money anymore and this debate will finally be over.
…White makes some good points, but the fighters do need to get paid more…I hope he comes through…
I’ve said it before…when you hear White’s perspective-FROM A BUSINESS point of view, he often doesn’t come off as Don King…I sure he’s done some bad but it’s pretty clear he’s done some good too…and he’s the one with skin in the game…
@MMAGiantSilva
Well anybody who fought GSP in the last 2-3 years are millionaires now.When you fight in a main card you might get paid officially 100k but you get bonuses from the PPV sales.Kos bought a Ferrari after his fight against GSP.I’m pretty sure he’s a millionaire now or else he wouldn’t buy that car.BUT if you’re not on the main card you get paid like a guy who works at McDonalds and hopefully you have good sponsors because 4k 3-4 times a year is extremly poor.
All I know, is they could pay the fighters more, actually I’m assuming. But, if you bank rolled for that long, and if true 50Mil in the hole that long, I think as an investor you’d want to make a pretty good ROI FIRST, before the fighters. I know I would. Don’t lie that you wouldn’t.
stupid poor people…win a bunch of fights or die in poverty.
the fighters dont only get paid for the fights, they make alot of money, depending on how they are ranked of course.
@the board-
White also makes the very valid point that MOST boxers on a card don’t make s*** either…
If they where not fighting in the UFC who would by their T shirts and other marketing gear that the fighters sell. For some of the fighters if they could keep out of debt doing something else then they should do it.
Well now you put it that way Dana!
I don’t want these guys to have to have 2 jobs like me. One job in IT (Information Technology) and the other blowing guys for $.
We should all be able to have just one job. I mean I’m not even that good at IT.
1. ufc fighters dont fight 12 rounds
2. ppv events in boxing you only get like 3 fights and a main event
3.the front rows tickets in a manny paquiao fight a guy paid 10 thousand us dollars just for a ticket
4.in boxing you have all this legends and a bunch of rich old schools fans ..bunch of celebrities with money .
5. ufc fans are poor and cheap always trying to get free tickets from dana white
6.some of the ufc fighters like to lay on top of each other like gsp and jone ficht and like to be holding guys on the fence for 1 and a half minutes ..boring and the list goes on
Well that explains that and if you don’t understand it, then perhaps you need to visit the badminton sports page.
Props to history, people need to study it more, the facts back Dana up. Give him some time
the only people making real money are the belt holders and the headliners because they get performance bonuses aside from the fight of the night sub and ko and they belt holders dont know about the headliners but the belt holders get a cut of the ppv
@coutura
Boxers do fight 12 rounds of 3 minutes but they BOXE 36 minutes.1 minute of grappling=3 minutes of boxing in terms of cardio.25 minutes of MMA is way harder phisically and for the cardio then 36 of boxing.Especially sicne they take a 1 minute pause between each 3 minutes.”Laying on each other” like you say is way better then boxers hugging when they should punch and its more hard for the cardio.Even 15 minutes of MMA is harder then 36 minutes of boxing.
@kungfu I agree, I believe you are correct, well explained valid point of view!
