Dana…always hating on the competition. I see no justification to call Kimbo or EliteXC the freak show. There are plenty of other fighters that rose up from nothing like Kimbo did.

Kimbo’s actually a decent guy…kind hearted, honest and candid…intelligent too. Apparently he went to University of Miami on academic scholarship.

The Elite show flopped cuz of bad officiating and horrible calls made by the doctors. Especially the lady that stopped the Lawler v. Smith fight. She needs a first class ticket straight to hell.

Lesnar isn’t some freak they picked up from WWE, Lesnar WANTED to get into MMA of his own free will, the guy was a beast in NCAA wrestling and was an All-American. Kimbo on the other hand was some bum on the streets who would beat up anybody for some cash.

Let me explain what Dana White was tryin to say by using the formula method:
Elite XC = WWE
UFC = MMA

Dana White saying that others are all about the money…Now that’s hilarious. Kimbo a freak show…then why did Dana White bring Sean Gannon to UFC, whose only credential was beating Kimbo Slice in a freak show street fight. The UFC reality show is 90% mediocre fighters but it is marketing for UFC in between pay-per0view events. Anybody who trains and has the heart to step in the ring has the heart of a warrior. Dana is hating on the fact that he isn’t getting paid from network TV sponsors.

This video headline should read, “Dana’s Big Massive Fat Head.” This is a guy who almost bankrupted the UFC company before Spike TV ALLOWED him to put TUF on their network. Talk about freak shows, Spike has “Manswers” and “1000 Ways to Die,” (both of which I enjoy by the way). Now they only run old CSI episodes for filler. Did Dana forget about all the mistakes he made in the beginning, and the ones he’s making right now. Did he forget that the UFC heavyweight division suffered from major lack of talent for a few years besides an Arlovski or Couture (which both left the UFC by the way). This sport is starting out, and it’s obvious that Dana wants a monopoly on MMA; Zuffa bought out Pride and owns the WEC. I say that Elite is kick ass for taking on this responsibility and criticism that a new comer gets; they need to keep going forward and attracting more attention with good fighters. Tito v. Slice would be a major hit which would answer some great questions. Dana forgot where he came from, and now resorts to retarded insults in order to bring down the competition. Fuck Dana, he doesn’t want you to see anything other than UFC. I enjoy that street brawler shit; it reminds me of the early days.

And to the guy talking trash about Lesner, maybe you werent watching that fight but lesner was working Frank Mir, and both of those fighters would run through Kimbo. So what watch what you say about Lesner since he almost beat Mir

As I said before crap like Kimboo vs Thompson makes me thankful for quality fight cards like UFC 84. However, Elite isn’t necessarily all garbage. I really enjoyed both Noons vs Diaz and Shamrock vs Le, both examples of shit talkin A-holes being given what fer by talented strikers. I’m also looking forward to seeing Noons fight Edwards. Several people have said it now and I agree, anyone who has the balls to step into the cage has the heart of a warrior. (though some to a lesser degree than others) Let us not forget, it all had to start somewhere. BTW – Admin: I heard Krazy Horse KO’d KJ Noons in one of the first Elite cards. Could you guys post the fight some time? (was it even worth watching?)

When he says freak show he is not necessarily calling Kimbo a freak. What he was talking about was the ridiculous entrances and the fact that half the fighters aren’t even good. Obviously Lawler was a good one so there were still some.

Response to EM: Dana rescued the UFC from going bankrupt when it was on its deathbed. If Dana and the Fertitta brothers didn’t buy them out, MMA would not be nearly as popular today. Of course he wants the big piece of the pie in MMA there moron. If you were the President/CEO of a company and you were the one that brought it(MMA) into the mainstream, wouldn’t you want that for your company as well? The Elite XC was a damn joke that looked more like the WWE than a professional MMA competition save a few good fights(Carano vs. Young; Lawler vs. Smith) These fighters need to find a new home because this promotion is going in the shiiiter after what I saw the other night.

EM, What research he was a football player at highschool and he almost got a scholar ship for college but when it didn’t happen he went on the streets and than he got a job being a porn shot bodygaurd and realitkings than after that he got offered a fight (street fight) to see who is stronger him or the other guy (i forget his name). I think Mas has a great point. All i have to say is , while i was watching the CBS fight on tv it was boring and i didnt feel like watching it. I love Fighting and the only reason i watched it is because i want to be a fighter one day

Seems like all the people pointing fingers calling kimbo nutthuggers are dana nutthuggers. The EliteXC show was some bullshit but it was free to watch and the fighters were all paid well thats got to count for something. Kimbo vs Tito now that would be awesome.

I disagree with James saying that MMA wouldn’t be as popular today without UFC. Let’s not be mistaken, although Dana SAYS that the company was on the verge of bankruptcy it doesn’t mean that it was, or that other offers weren’t made to buy the company. Dana White should be thankful that this has started to pay off for him as it wasn’t even his idea to begin with. Why couldn’t he have started his own company or brand? He had to basically steal the concept from someone else. So, what he got a few more states to allow these matches; it was the original owners who were able to do this even with no holds barred. As far as MMA being in the mainstream, that is a subjective concept certainly. It’s is still a specialized sport which doesn’t have nearly the same viewer ship as football, baseball, or basketball have. If you think about it, CBS and Elite tried to do that. The first time may not have been perfect, I agree, but it seems like it’s White who wants to keep MMA off network TV since he makes more money off PPV and cable TV. I don’t understand the fuss, is there not room for multiple organizations? Pepsi and Coke have been doing it for years. My biggest problem is Dana thinking that he spearheaded this whole idea. He’s forgetting that it wasn’t his idea to begin with and he had to buy that idea from someone else who faced much more serious odds coming from Congress no less. Also, Dana is just a promoter, he forgets to mention all the lawyers, accountants, and investors who actually have the know how and ability to create a viable company. Also, consider the numerous shitty fights that have happened in the UFC: people running from each other, people not making weight, people gassing out in 1 minute, people possibly throwing fights, and people leaving the organization due to nonpayment. Finally, really examine the Elite fights themselves, without the Baroni entrance, and ask yourself objectively if they were really all that bad; consider going back and viewing them again on this great site.

Also as for the UFC using Pride Template is stupid because if they did show the US congress the Pride fights they would not be allowed to even have one show. The major rules that are different is stomping, Kicking or hitting back of the head, as for the DIFFERENCE OF THE RINGS is that UFC wanted something that would distinguish them from WWE they could of had a ring they just chose not to and now the OCTOGAN is a known phenomenon around the MMA world…..
