…It’s truly a shame that Edgar gets so little respect…He beats BJ, its called a fluke, he gives BJ a rubber match and beats him again. He fights the only guy who EVER beat him to a draw, rematches and KO him (calling that a TKO is BS)…now he’s lost one other fight and he’s immediately pushed into another division…sad. Edgar is 14-2-1…In 17 fights he’s lost two and one draw avenged…few fighters have a record like that…

no one wants to see edgar rematch every single one of his fights he needs to learn how to finish. think about it do u want to pay to see frankie fight the same guy twice? i mean the one or 2 times was fine now it’s just getting redundant

I think the real reson dana wants edgar to move down a weight is because he takes so much damage in his fights the man is so skilled and is as tough as they come but i think dana is just looking out for one of his most talented fighters and if he carries on in the current weight class his fighting days could be over in the next 5 to 6 fights.
Plus mma is now like boxing in its implementation of weight cutting there are fighters who are in 185 who will walk around at 16 stone and some fighters at 155 who will be natural 185ers so its only common senses that edgar should do the same the guy is a hero in my views.

Edgar so lost the fight, just look at his face! Ben’s hair wasn’t even out of place after the fight. Edgar should stop whining, he was getting annoying saying he won the fight…please look in the mirror… you got messed up! He is kind of boring to watch to be honest, not that he is not a good fighter but just not exciting to watch especially when he wins on points most of the time.

Nevertheless, Frankie was too hyped as it is. Yes he beat BJ, but he had the perfect fighting style to do so. Frankie was that cryptonite. But I would argue that BJ could beat Henderson. Edgar can beat BJ most of the time, but BJ is the overall better fighter. Secondly, people gave Edgar too much respect for only defeating two opponents while he was the champion. What did Maynard really accomplish? He wrestled people and that’s pretty much it.
All in all, Edgar wasn’t ever really that good. OPINION.

The fight was close to call…
Its a shame that was a controversial loss.
But he is received too much punishment from bigger guys, in the long run it will affect his career and his health.
Is a lot better for him to start competing against people his size.
He did a great job, too bad the fight was really close, but is the best for him to move a 145.

I would love to see Edgar drop down. 155 is such a stacked division with some big weight cutter dudes. I agree with Dana in that he’s looking out for Frankie’s safety cuz he truly believes in guys fighting guys their size. In Frankie’s last 3 fights, he’s gotten smashed and took a bunch of damage. It shouldn’t even be difficult for him to make 145.
The other thing is that there aren’t many challengers to Jose’s 145 pound belt. Who could be the next contender?…Poirier?, Zombie?, sucks Koch is hurt… But hey Aldo vs. Edgar looks good. champ vs champ thing, same weight
Also, yeah Frankie I’m sure you want your belt back but hey you’re getting offered an instant shot at another belt fighting a guy your size. Why not?

I dont think its so much about Edgar not being able to handle his recent competition. Hes proven hes capable of handling himself very well at 155. Dana wants to make some money with Edgar vs. Aldo. Aldo is so dominate and Edgar is the closest talent to 145.

ANYONE who calls that fight a definite win does not understand the sport, scoring, how judging works or sport fighting.
Period.
A case can be made for either fighter but saying one was dominant shows a lack of understanding…once again (as I said in another thread) I challenge you to SCORE the fight. Don’t just make ignorant comments about how someone looked at the end of the fight-that shows you don’t get it. Use the ACTUAL CRITERIA that fights are scored on and make a judgement-not your opinion…back it with the point system which is what is used to determine a fight that is not stopped.
Kinda odd that Dana and Lorenzo (who score fights) both gave it to Edgar AND gave him his win $bonus$, don’t you think? They put their money where their mouth was and certainly didn’t have to…

Edgar v. Aldo is simply an easy business decision. I don’t think anyone can say Edgar can’t handle the top 155ers, but there are years of great title fights in 155, not even one good one in 145.
Douchy Dana might even offer him more money to take on Aldo.

I agree he’s not getting full respect here, but Frankie is not exactly a huge draw. Fans are tired of seeing rematch after rematch in the lightweight division. Aldo vs Edgar would be a big fight at 145, but I think Jose would hurt him.. bad.

The reason he’s being asked to move down is because the lightweight division is super stacked, and because he is a small lightweight who would be better served at 145. The move is a win for Frankie AND the UFC.
