I mean, I know it looks bad, and there is a good chance that Overeem lied, but isn’t it possible he’s telling the truth? Why would Overeem basically dare Dana and the commission to test him whenever they want, and then show up to a press conference right before the fight with elevated levels? It doesn’t make sense. Even if he is roiding, he’s not stupid. If he was taking anti-inflammatories for his legitimately inured rib, and he can demonstrate that the substance elevates testosterone, doesn’t that “check out”?

Say what you will, I think if you are straight up with Dana then he will have your back. It is in Dana’s best interest to keep Overeem fighting but I don’t blame Dana if he did lie to him.

AOPrinciple, I pretty much feel the same way as you about this, but, why wouldn’t Overeem tell the commission beforehand that he is taking a prescribed inflammatory drug. This is the only thing that really bugs me. Like Dana said, you’re supposed to tell the commission beforehand your are taking so something. Not afterwards. I cant imagine leaving out a glaring detail like that before a test for the biggest fight of your career. Its seems idiotic. I would want to cover all my avenues. I would tell them how may Advil’s I took yesterday.

1. What doctor prescribes a professional athlete something with an illegal substance in it and don’t tell the athlete
2. What professional athlete trust his doctor 100% and is not informed about illegal substances so he don’t check what kind of substances he is using
3. If he knew it, why diddn’t he disclosed it beforehand
Answer: either a total non-professional athlete or one that knows exactly what kind of substances help him to improve his game. Well if you are on a skill level like these fighters then you are a professional athlete and well educated about what helps you with your game.

Anti-inflamatories will not elevate or even affect your testosterone levels. There is no drug on the market in the United States that I know of that is a pain medication or anti inflamatory that also has a metabolic steroid it it. Now there are corticosteroids but they have a totally different affect and would not cause someone to fail a drug test. The reason that he didn’t disclose the pain medication (which could have been a narcotic and needed to be disclosed as well) is because he didn’t think he was going to get caught and tested during a cycle.

Same s***, Dana acting like he’s descusted and doesn’t know if he’s going to cut him. We all know when Overeem is cleared to fight he’s gonna headline a card and probably gonna fight for the title . Dana and the UFC will make tonnes of dough as usual and thats all that counts !

Dana unfortunately has to address the public and that’s why he’s pist. Professional, Dana white is not so I expect idle threats and outbursts. Overeem, he made a bad “professional” decision and now is paying for it.

absolutely not any fighter before gets tested its asked “have you taken any drugs?” and that included any kind of drug even a simple headache pill, his response was No which means he lied and probably knew the drug has an advantage of extra dose of testosterone so he tried to hide it. he deserves the suspension its not fair for other fighter who train hard and are clean!
