UFC seems to be losing everyone

The only one who loses out on this is the UFC. You pay insane amounts of money to an oversized guy coming out of show-wrestling, yet someone who has paid his dues and fought the best of the best gets kicked out of your league.

Dan Henderson has been constantly underrated by UFC-lovers, MMA fans who look further than the UFC know his real worth.

Dana is a Dik Says, in 10-21-2009 at 10:00:56 from 12.74.219.250

Totally agree with artdeco, what else can you say. Most of the guys that have been mainstays in the UFC and or helped build the UFC to where it now is have always been underpaid. I think eventually a fighters union needs to be created. The pay is so lopsided. One fighter can make $100,000 a fight while his opponent may only make $10,000. Up and comer or not that kind of gap in pay is BS, especially when you consider how much money the UFC is making, I mean really, they usually have a fighter payroll under a million. They sell more PPV than boxing and always sell out the gate, clothing sales, video game sales(huge $$$), etc. Where is the money going???? Not to the fighters. UFC has the money to pay Hendo and I hope he holds out.

It’s a real shame to hear the UFC isn’t prepared to pay Dan and many other fighters what they deserve.

Yes they’ll pay big bucks for what seems to be all the wrong reasons.

But let’s not forget the UFC is a business at the end of the day, and the reasoning stops there.

Dana will distroy the UFC slowly, they want to pay dan henderson a small amount of money and pay other guys like micheal bisping much more. their pay rate 4 fighters r only 7% of their profit.

On Tape Says, in 10-21-2009 at 11:26:25 from 207.167.21.232

Salary is only part of their pay, they all get a cut of the ppv. It’s deemed a bonus and it’s undisclosed and it is usually more than their pay.

So there is more to the story than the salaries they have to disclose by state law.

it seems the UFC feels it doesnt need hendo atm but what happens after silva beats vitor and marquart? there is no one left in the division to make a run for the title. hendo is up there and lets not forget he took a round from silva when they fought. hes a humble guy and hes done alot for the sport. i think he may go into coaching

BigBiscuits Says, in 10-21-2009 at 13:49:41 from 71.189.249.122

It’s this simple, you draw big you get paid big. Dan Henderson is a legend of the sport but realistically speaking he’s not really that big of a draw. A guy like Lesnar draws big numbers so he gets paid more, if anything blame the people that tune into UFC in order to see the spectacle more than the sport itself. But I do still agree that in general the fighters pay, as far as the disclosed amounts, are pretty small

So it seems everyone is pissed at the UFC for not complying with Hendo’s terms, but does anybody actually know how much he was asking for? Maybe it actually was a retarded amount… and I’m sorry he would get beat by Silva again, handily.

I seen today that Frank Shamrock posted the video of him beating Hendo in a submission match from back in the day today on his twitter..wonder if he’s try to taunt Dan into a fight under the Strikeforce banner.

You’ve seen the payouts on some websites after the event and man some of the headliners get paid chump change. Yes, Dan needs to be paid.
Sounds like another greedy MF’er trying to screw everybody else the American way.
And Dana says they turned a 2 millions dollar company into what now? It’s gotta be almost a billion dollar company.

I hope they can work this out but I guess you can’t blame either party. I dont think Hendo is a huge draw for the UFC so you can’t expect them to pay him like he is. Hendo is also getting towards the end of his career and needs to go where the money is at. I hope they can come to an agreement but if not I wouldn’t mind seeing Hendo fight Lawler over in StrikeForce.

I don’t mean to be blunt I love Dan Henderson he is an amazing fighter with a lot of drive. The UFC is still a growing company, and they are being careful with what they spend their money on. I think its a great tactic not to pay fighters too much money 5 years down the line when UFC can afford to take a hit they should pay loads of money to DESERVING fighters. I think right now since they are the only popular and successful company ruling the rest of the industry. Fighters need to bend for the UFC because you may never know if Strikeforce may be out of business. Once you burn bridges you won’t ever comeback.

I am a huge Hendo fan and hate to see him go…if he does. Bottom line is this, Dan had 2 title shots, in two different weight classes, and LOST. Dan should have waited until he had another title shot and WON, and then asked for the big bucks. This is a statement by the UFC that they don’t have that much confidence in him. I think Dan got a little too happy and his head swelled too much over beating Bispbing, and he made a bone head move. Beating Bispbing isn”t actually that great of an accomplishment, B. was over rated. Dan was asking for half a mil. and realistically he should have asked for around 250k-300K.

bottom line ufc and mma for that matter will never get to the next level until fighters unionize under one organization. i understand having competition in the business is good and some ppl wouldnt like to see the ufc get that much power but its the only way stuff like this wont happen. and goddamit i wanted to see hendo fight marquardt.

To Dana is a Dik: A fighters union? Are you serious? If you want to watch the UFC and other organizations go under then by all means form a union. That will be great when instead of using money to expand the sport and attract top talent they spend it on fighters nobody wants to see. Brilliant.

J-Mar Says, in 10-22-2009 at 08:29:06 from 75.72.61.107

it’s not really a losing situation for Henderson. The UFC tends to shortchange their mainstays, or the guys who helped “build” the sport, but Dana knows something: the sport has been built. It’s changed now, and the guys who built it are not necessarily the guys who fit the best in it; sounds wacky, but it’s true. And though the UFC may be unsentimental with its legends, Dana has shown that, truly, he’s a businessman–he’s not taking this personally. Henderson can burn this bridge, and it can easily be rebuilt; if in two years there’s room and/or palpable demand for another comeback, Dana WILL sign him.

Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz didn’t seem to have problems coming back, after all.

I agree that fighters (including Hendo) should make the most money they can; however, Dana is running a business. If you have ever run a business, you have profits and losses. So you don’t see when an event loses money. The UFC throws so many events that some lose money. Period. If Dana started handing out big contracts then the UFC would be gone soon enought. Example: Affliction and don’t forget Pride. Dana bought that on pennies on the dollar.
