Ares what you failed to mention was that Nog was already signed to be on this season’s TUF and signed a contract to fight Frank Mir. If Couture had agreed to return to the UFC before that then that fight would have taken place. You wanna ride Elite/Afflictions dick you go ahead but the UFC is the only reason those company’s can conduct business in this country. You don’t like Dana White thats cool but don’t sit her and talk shit about the company that’s been at the forefront of Mixed Martial Arts in America.

a bit more than a year ago matt serra was the welterweight champion. since he was unable to defend his title (he hurt himself in training) the ufc made gsp and hughes fight for the interim title.
gsp won.
gsp became the interim welterweight champion.
as soon as serra returned, a gps (interim champion) vs. serra (champion) fight was held.

a bit less than a year ago sherk was the lightweight champion. he was found positive to illegal drugs and stripped of his title. stevenson and penn, both ranked at the top of the division , fought for the vacant belt.
penn won.
as soon as sherk was cleared to fight again, a penn vs sherk fight was held.
penn won.

present day: nogueira is the interim champion since the linear champion, couture, is refusing to fight due to contract disputes. now the champion, couture is ready to fight again.
does he fight nogueira, the interim champion?
no.
does he fight some other top 10 ranked heavy weight fighter? no.

if someone here still thinks that dana puts the credibility of mma ahead of his bank account, can they tell me of another professional sport in which the champion is made to fight someone who is 1-1?

I agree with Dana, but he needs to lay off Kimbo. Kimbo has been respectful to the UFC, and has blown off all of Dana’s insults. He also know’s he’s not a top tier fighter. I would like to see Kimbo fight more as an undercard. It’s MMA baby, anything can happen, one punch by Kimbo could flatten a top tier heavyweight, but 9 out of 10 times, he would get disolved in the first round.

Lesnar should not be compared to Kimbo. It’s only a formality that he’s not in the Top 10 List for Heavyweights. We all saw what he was doing to Mir before that heel lock. He also whiped the floor with Herring, who’s fought the best. I think Barnett would be a good fight for Lesnar. He’s just too big and strong for Couture(prove me wrong Randy).
