He made sense of the Griffin explanation. His arguement for Rashad comment became weaker. With Miguel he never even spoke to him. He said “I didn’t speak to him, but I heard he said it was just a joke”. Dana White is just trying to explain his way out of an unfair decision. Griffin and Rashad make money, Miguel doesn’t…period.

If dana had read some scripted, politically correct ,generic response, then all of you would be calling him a douch for that. Show me another corporate president/ceo who would come on and give a interview like that. Anyone else in his position would have said something along these lines. “we here at zuffa are sympathetic to all victims of r***. If dana had responded like that, you all would have broke his balls about how hes just spewing corporate and legal bullshit, and how he should be a man and handle each case individually, and not just spew corporate political correctness, which is exactly what he did, but people still critisize him. As much as Torres comes off as a total tool to me because of his obscene tweets ive read oh and his mullet, Dana should have atleast contacted him before firing him. He said about Forrest he didn’t see how he would get himself out of it but he did. Also a point was made before that the quote is from “Always Sunny” a show on FX! so…yeah, a little too harsh if you ask me.

I read torres twitter and there was a bunch of garbage that was totally non professional to say the least. theres a code of conduct all martial artists should have, that is one of the basics and not any different then say the military.
there were once real values installed in the arts that went hand in hand with the training. I think there should be more disciplinary action up with fighters that don’t follow appropriate conduct.

Dana white is who he is and that will not change. He is just keeping it real, he can tolerate and explain the others and with Torres he cannot. I’m starting to lose a lot of respect for Dana. He didn’t even talk to Torres personally to get his opinion and he fired him, but he personally called up Forrest and Rashad. As if he was going to fire them even if they didn’t have a good explanation. It’s simple as this, Dana will do whatever the F*** he pleases. Babalu Sobral was released from the UFC for holding a choke for too long, but I can name 3-4 instances where someone went overboard that didn’t get punished. Caro Parisian was released because he took pain killers, but Chris Leben on his second offense only got fined and time off. You ain’t fooling no one with this. As much as I dislike Torres and the stupid stuff he says on his twitter, this was not justified. It wasn’t that bad and it was a quote from a FOX SHOW! We all know the reason why he was released. To be made an example of and because of his lackluster performances.

All you people talking about freedom of speech and wrongfull termination need to learn a thing or two about how things work in the private sector of the working world. In most cases, an employer can fire you for any reason, at any time, without notice, so long as its not race, religion, ethnicity, or something along those lines. Freedom of speech does not appy. If you owned company x, and i worked for you, and i went on twitter and said company x sucks, and the owners wife is a slut, do you think i cannot be fired for that. If you do your wrong. Its private enterprise..hire and fire at will.
The only way wrongfull termination comes into play is if there is specific language in your individual contract with the company, or a bargaining unit (union) contract, that states you cant be fired for the act, or that the employer needs to use progressive discipline ( i.e.,verbal warning, then written warning, then suspention, etc ). I personally do not believe that he deserved to be fired, but as a private sector employer, they are within thier right to do so. Many of you on here probably arent even old enough to work, and so its understandable that you wouldnt know these things.

Sure a joke about r*** is a sensitive matter. On one hand Dana seems to be keeping the UFC image clean. His Doucheness has the right to fire anyone without cause according to the standard UFC contract, but at least be honest about the actual reason. Many UFC fighters have said things that are much more offensive and the Douche of White laughed.
The Douche is in his right, but he didn’t have to come up with this bull sh*t to justify it. Douchy Dana simply wanted an excuse to cut Torres because his salary is too high for his latest performances and for the money he brings in.
Cutting Torres for a “just cause,” allows them to renegotiate the contract and offer a much sweeter deal to the UFC.
