Fedor should seriously consider firing his manager. He’s one loss away from having the value of his “stocks” go down. Beyond that, he probably knows that the UFC has the best heavyweights right now, and is the ultimate proving grounds to cement a legacy as the best “pound for pound” fighter. I believe a fighter should negotiate the best deal possible, however, timing is critical for him right now as he is in his prime and his only other “competition” tested positive for steroids.

Who wouldn’t be upset? I can’t blame Dana. I think that Fedor has got himself tied up with his managers and can’t get free of what he’s involved in. I would think that Fedor DOES want to come to the UFC but is constrained from doing so. More to the point… I highly suspect the Russian Mafia’s involvement in this constraint. While that sounds like conspiracy-theory stuff, I’ve seen too much of it around the PNW to discount it. Co-sponsorship is just NOT going to happen. But, that’s what the Russians want. It’s not what Fedor wants. Really a bummer because, as Dana pointed out, the fans would love to see him come to the UFC.

I’m as pissed as anyone that this couldn’t be made, however it’s obvious that Fedor doesn’t need the UFC as bad as the UFC wanted him.

He’s going to make money regardless and his ownership stakes in M1 are the biggest problem here.

I wish both sides could have found some sort of compromise on the co-promotion stuff as the UFC has done that before when they were the smaller show and Pride let them in. I guess when the shoe is on the other foot we tend to forget about things like that.

I’d also like both camps to show in writing what the actual deal proposed was because I’m tired of guessing every detail. One side is saying they offered more money than ever before and the other side is saying he’s made more money than they offered before.

Too bad I was hoping Fedor would be able to come to the UFC and show them what a real HW fighter looks like, but that will probably never happen now.

Fuck it. Fedor doesn’t give a crap about the US fans, anyway. Even at his official website, his news is current for russian, japan, and korea, but the english version hasn’t been updated since 2007!
This makes it look like he’s dodging IMO. Those M-1 guys are asking so much that the fight will never happen. Kinda like back in the day after UFC 5 or so when Royce Gracie said he wouldn’t fight again in the UFC for under less that $500,000. The UFC simply couldn’t afford that back then.
