Dana White Explains Why Shogun Did Not Earn Title Shot At UFC on FOX 4.
shogun needs one more fight to prepare him for jon. I believe that he can take him but he needs to be well prepared. One more win then his cardio will be up to par and he will build his confidence up. He needs to fight a wrestler maybe phill davis or rashad evans to prepare him for jones.
shogun needs to learn to move his head. his footwork is s*** too. maybe from the bad knees idk but i believe any fleet footed fighter like machida or gusstafson would just dance around him and pick him apart. vera could of won that fight if he didnt back up so damn much, move to the side ya idiot lol
shogun is one of my favs but man he moves like an old man
To marvelous
You new in the game? any fleet footed fighter like machida or gusstafson would just dance around him and pick him apart??????
Shogun already KTFO of machida and everybody gave him the W in the first fight. It seems like you dont know who shogun is. One bad performance and people start bitching.
@ first off shogun beat machida twice he was probably injured and thats just his muay thai style and he said to joe in the ring that it wasnt his best performance he probably didnt have a good fight camp, preparation, or injured…
Its better for Shogun to not get a shot right away.
If Jones beats Hendo then it would set up Jones/Machida 2 & Hendo/Shogun 2, which works out perfect in my eyes.
Vera vs Bader too, they would (should) both be very motivated for that fight.
Shogun is always a disappointment in the cage. His UFC career minus the lucky Machida KO has been a joke. He almost lost to MARK COLEMAN!! Forrest Griffin choked him out and Brandon Vera went 4 rounds with him. Poor Shogun….
@marvelous mad madam mim did you forget that Shogun beat Machida (knocked him out) and probably beat him the first fight they had (very very close decision).
An idea i have heard people talk of that sounded cool was shogun vs machida 3 and then the winner fights jones…
@MMA_KING let’s not forget that the loss to Forrest was after a major knee operation and so was the Coleman fight. AND he avenged his loss to Griffin with a brutal KO. I do agree however that his fight with Vera was less then stellar… Both seemed exhausted after RD1…WTF!
dragon is hitting his prime as shogun is steadily declining. i dont see a third fight going well for rua.
@4M you are absolutely correct. Shogun loves to just stand in front of his opponents and brawl. He takes alot of damage and its starting to build up. He really needs to work on fighting like a fencer(Machida). But his style makes great fights!! I don’t know what to tell you bc he beat Machida with his style twice. But with Jones he better work on dancing and using angles like Dominic Cruz bc it will be a repeat of his last defeat. But then again, Bones caught him early with a flying knee and Shogun was from then on out in survival mode. This fight showed that he can stand in front of HW’s and take their shots and finish them. If Bones rematches, I believe Shogun will use this same brawling strategy and this time finish him. Unless he gets caught early with a flying knee again. We already know Bones has no KO power in his punches or kicks!! Also Shogun was no where near 100% in his first fight vs Jones!!!
@Stranger I believe Bader would kill Vera which is why Shogun is not fighting for the title, Dana knows this
Shogun didnt look so Hot,he doesnt deserve a shot at the title yet,if they fought again Lyoto would beat him.
Well see what happens… Takes a chug of water
Shogun have not yet realized that the sport evolved and he needs to make changes. Its hard for me to say that specially because I am a proud brazilian.
He needs to invest some more in his future otherwise he will be done soon and became a gate keeper, and that will be sad.
can we stop saying that shogun beat machida twice? LOL. yeah, he threw some leg kicks. big deal. Machida won the first fight. stop whining about it still.
shogun is done to much knee injury, last 3 fight no legs kick what so ever
I wonder how the fact of Machida being ckoked out that way by JJ resonated in the world of karate and among his family.
Glad to hear lyoto is hungry to another fight with JJ.
As for Shogun, to beat JJ he needs to be back at his Pride shape and stop accepting taking so may hist during his fights, this extra shots he take may give him a shorter career as a top fighter.
Ya’ll forgettin about Gustafson. he might have what it takes to beat Jon Jones. Machida looked Anderson Silva -like even though Bader kinda just stood there. And Jones owned Shogun so bad that I dont want that rematch
Vana white & all you fools are a bunch of idiots! white criticizes Rua but on the other hand he knows damn well it’s precisely the type of fight he f****** needed for his little deal with fox(free on TV).
You all think the same old Machida evasive performance concluded with a predictable KO is what kept the viewers intrigued? Hell NO! what they wanted & got was a truly exciting back-n-forth fight between Rua & Vera; that’s what kept them tuned in.
F*** ufc & the unified rules for castrating real MMA/ValeTudo!
PrideFC has been the epitome of MMA thus far!
a)10min. 1st rd.
b)Ring(as opposed to over-sized octagon that only promotes running & back-peddling)
c)ANY kick or punch should be legal(except groin or rabbit obviously)whether standing or on ground! 4point attacks, stomps etc.
d)elbows while standing ONLY(on the ground, seldom produce KO’s just maim & cut)
e)eliminate the inapplicable to MMA! borrowed from boxing bullshit 10point must system nonsense!
f)judge fight in its entirety.
caxias all the more reason why you(a Brazilian) should know that it’s thanks to this lame brand of watered down MMA promulgated here in the States by ufc, unified rules, Vana white, marc RATner & co. That Shogun Rua’s arsenal has been completely deemed illegal. Even this very fight with Vera could of ended early in Shogun’s favor on several occasions had it been in Japan due to 4point attacks & stomps.
Shogun is past his due date he needs to RETIRE.
I think this was a tune up fight for shogun. It seemed liked he was working on some of the weaker parts of his game. More take downs and g/p. Shogun should take it easy he’s been in a bunch of tough fights. Then let the title fight come to him. Plus shogun vs Vera was stylistically a tougher fight oppose to machida vs bader. Everybody saw that ko coming. Shogun passed on Glover Teixeira bc nobody knows who he is except joe rogan.
No, he passed on him because he didn’t want to lose to an unknown. (which would’ve happened)
because he looked slow and shitty
shogun needs cardio and needs to learn to manage his cardio he goes all out in the first then nothin. he wont beat jones if jones wasnt 6’5” we wouldnt even be talking about him i still havent seen him put someone to sleep
