Dana White Calls Roy Nelson The Ultimate Underachiever, Comments On Fighter Salaries.
Interesting clues to what fighters really make!
Dana is the man!!!
Maybe somebody should come out and really talk about what they make. Sonnen said he was the highest paid fighter in the UFC, if that is true that is bs. If the fighters really don’t want people to know though they should not have to disclose.
who gives a F*** how much they make the ufc putting on great fights is what people should care about
“Yeah… Look what happened to Tyson.”
- I’m not going to pay the fighters who put on the show that makes me Ferrari rich any real money because I’m protecting them…
Well done Dana. Well done.
“It’s not all about the money.” – and that’s the way it should be. Fighters are there to fight, regardless of how much they get paid. That’s the discipline that martial arts teaches that boxing lacks tremendously.
Dana’s a broken record on this subject, says the same exact thing every time. The interviewer should’ve have asked Dana point blank of Chael and/or ANderson Silva made more then five million for last fight.
LETS ALL GIVE DANA A GOLF CLAP…..
For pretending hes not screwing over the fighters and doesn’t want to disclose how little they make.
If the fighters want the media and fans to know how much they make they would tell them!
I don’t understand why some fans think they should know how much a fighter makes per fight.
Rocco55,how much do you make after taxes?
Hm. Roy Nelson opened his UFC career with one of the most definitive cold KOs in MMA history in the first round. Knockout Of The Night award.
Then he destroys Struve, a guy with literally a foot of reach on him, in 39 seconds with another vicious overhand right KO. Knockout Of The Night award.
Loses a decision in the next bout to the most dominate heavyweight currently in the sport, JDS the reigning and defending champ. JDS has also stated this was the hardest fight of his career. Roy was the only man who had ever taken him to a decision at the time. Still only the second. Would have been an easy FOTN but Sonnen vs Silva was on the same card.
Then he lost to Mir, another of the greatest heavyweights on the planet, to a decision. Mir hadn’t gone to a decision in 5 years before that. He either finished all of his opponents or got finished. Should have been FOTN, the Stann/Santiago was a joke and got FOTN.
His next fight he knocked out Crocop in the 3rd after taking a brutal 2 round beating. No question it would have been FOTN except the epic Penn vs Diaz was on the card. Was in the running for KOTN.
Following that he lost to Werdum, a top contender in the HW division, in a decision where he got the s*** kicked out of him. After the beating he still rocked Werdum a few times. Not only that, Werdum couldn’t handle Roy on the ground. FOTN award.
His last fight was a 51 second jack hammer overhand right KO to Dave Hermam. KOTN winner.
Seven fights in the UFC, 4 awards won, all were award worthy. He rarely gasses and is an absolute monster on the ground. Nobody has been able to better him on the mat. All this and he has the frame of a 185er.
Yeah Dana, hes the ultimate underachiever. Not GSP, Condit or Fitch. Nelson just doesn’t fit your idea of what a fighter is supposed to look like. On any given day there isn’t a fighter on the planet that he can’t beat. Roy has far more than a puncher’s chance. He has real technique, a bomb right hand and a concrete chin. He also has more heart than any fighter this side of Matt Hughes.
Wow, it wasn’t that long when I typed it……
@Dana “f******” White:
So essentially fighters are slaves in your eyes? They should risk their health and quality of life just to entertain you and make millions (possibly billions) for the promoters?!?!
So Dana and the Ferrita brothers laugh all the way to the bank while the fighters have nothing to life of of when fighting is over.
You and Dana are idiots.
To all the complainers…would you be happy if your company puplish your salaries? if the employees want that it’s allright…if not then not…so who cares…
UFC has got to go…a monopoly is bad. leads to people like dana white doing and saying whatever he wants, getting mad rich while fighters are the ones putting their health at risk. for all the confusion with commissions and belts in boxing, at least the fighters get paid what they should for putting their lives and well being at risk. dana white is a PIECE OF f****** CRAP. so sick of that guy.
i agree with @danarogan
So much hate directed at Dana. The dude has helped make the UFC what it is today so stop complaining because he got rich off of it.
MMA fighters are underpay that’s the truth
If they werent making money they would leave or do something else. Stop worrying about what they make. Even if gsp is making way less than mayweather, who gives a F***. He still makes alot more than a god damn firefighter…someone who risks his life on a daily basis. Theres not an athlete alive, in any sport, who cares wheather you or i can pay our motgage or car payment, so stop crying because some fighter only made $600,000.
