Dana White And Ariel Helwani Talk Post UFC 136 Event.

machida all the way dog
What about Rashad v Phil Davis once both are healed up?
@Matt,
I think Phil Davis is not yet ready for Rashad, but that’s just me.
is dana delusional?
i hate gsp, but edgar #2 p4p? LOL
“he beat everyone at 155″
he has only beat bj and maynard…thats everyone?
Edgar isn’t #2 P4P that’s a ridiculous statement. I can understand what he’s saying about the weight difference playing into it, but GSP doesn’t get touched.
GSP dominates opponents, Maynard almost knocked Edgar out twice.
Dana’s a “Promoter”. He’s trying to promote the 155 division. Let’s be honest, it’s now, since BJ left, the least exciting division of all their divisions. He’s selling the division. He’s selling Frankie. In my opinion, I think BJ won the first fight, and Frank got lucky, getting a second crack at the prodigy. But it is what it is. And Dana needs to make more money from the light weight division. That’s why he say’s he’s number 2 pound for pound.
well thank you to everyone else who thought the #2 pfp comment was a bit over the top !! edgar is nasty but GSP has truly beaten “everyone” in front of him and in his division not many interesting options for gsp left however ??? … superfight anytime soon ???
Dana wants to move Edgar to 145 becuase the 145 lb division has NO ONE we have ever heard of while the 155lb division is loaded with about 15 guys who could be champion.
I love watching Frankie fight, but, to use a video game/score reference here…
GSP gets “flawless victory” more often than not. Top score. Perfect.
Frankie has amazing heart, and fights guys who are bigger than him. But, on a scorecard, there is simply no comparison.
When’s the last 10/7 round for GSP or Jones?
Silva, GSP, & Jones are all top tier.
Silva gets top billing, as he finishes in a myriad of methods. GSP gets top billing because of his top scores. Jones is somewhere in the mix as well as he is also creative, has a myriad of techniques and is developing into a serious force.
He is just fast tracking the hype on Edgar or at lest trying to creat some. He hasn’t been too exciting in the past. Admittedly, almost getting knocked out and then coming back to win keeps you on the edge of your seet, but he can’t do that every time. Also, unfortunately for Edgar, he looks like a Jockey, that’s a horse rider, not sure if you have them in the USA (excuse my ignorance). So Dana has to make him seem a bit more marketable.
By the way, What was with Gray Maynard coming out in the second and doing the John Jones/anderson silva dance. Did you all notice he was mimicking their fighting style and trying to act as if he was just taking it all in his stride and toying with Edgar. Next thing he’s waking up asking what happened!!!!!!!!! Love it.
I agree with the majority here that say that the #2 pfp comment is over the top and I understand Dana’s point about the weight but I’m sorry. Getting almost ktfo twice and coming back and winning although impressive does not get you points for the pfp ranking. This is the same reason I (unlike most of you) don’t have Silva as number 1 because of the ass pounding he received from Sonnen (don’t care about drugs or injury he’d likely do that to him again). Jones is amazing with basically no losses and finishes everyone, he’s like Silva and GSP combined.
Jones (Dominates and finishes w/ no losses)
GSP (Although many decisions, all dominant)
Silva (Finishes with some lackluster decisions and a lopsided beating w/ lucky comeback win)
Cain (Undefeated with many finishes, dominant)
Edgar (Avenged only loss/draw, rarely dominant but consistent)
Aldo (Almost always wins w/ finishes but lately hasn’t looked great but gets the job done)
no video for me
Bruno: Still works.
ass pounding from chael? he laid on top of silva for 5 rounds. While he should have won, he f***** up and got submitted. Silva still is the number 1 pfp in the world, he makes people look stupid. Putting him at 3 is ridiculous.
I know many have your opinion mmafan400 but I have Silva at 3 simply because I have yet to see GSP or Jones be dominated round after round whether they win or lose.
I agree that Edgar shouldnt be #2 but at the same time people are forgetting what he did leading up to his title. He beat sean sherk, hermes franca, tyson griffon, Jim Miller, and Matt Veach, not to mention beating BJ (controversially once, and dominating the 2nd) and KOing Maynard. The fact that he cuts no weight is a HUGE influence on being P4P. Aldo weighs more walking around than Edgar does, and Edgar fights in a heavier weight class. After Edgar fights Melendez or the winner of Guida and Henderson, thats the fight I want to see happen, catchweight bout at 150 Edgar vs Aldo.
