Dan Henderson To Fight Anderson Silva At UFC 82

After once stating that he wouldn’t drop down to 185 Henderson has agred to face Silva at that weight.

As part of Dan Henderson’s contract extension he will fight at 185 once if he loses and have the option to move back up in weight. If he wins he will have to continue fighting at 185 as long as he owns the title belt.

If there is any one man that has a real chance against Silva right now it is Henderson. It will take someone strong enough to get Silva to the ground and keep him there. Henderson doesn’t lose much power when he drops down in weight but he gains a noticeable speed increase when at 185. He will need both to take out the current champ.

I love both of these guys. What’s not to like, two fighters at the very top of the food chain that can do it anyway you like.

Anderson definitely has an edge in stand up, while Henderson has an edge on the ground.

Having said all that, I don’t care who wins, but my gut tells me Henderson. He’s the only threat out there for Anderson and I have a feeling we’re going to see a few Silva vs Henderson fights as a result.

Henderson is a loser. In pride competition he lost about 10 fights. He is a very weak fighter.

Soros, I’m with Forrrest on this one. How can you possibly say that Henderson is a weak fighter?

He dominated Pride at the 185lb weight class. He had losses to Antonio Noguiera and Wanderlei Silva when he was the full blown axe murderer.

Then earlier this year he annihilates Wanderlei and knocks him cold in a brawl.

Please, being an Anderson Silva fan is great, but don’t tell me that Henderson is some kind of chump. He may just be the toughest pound for pound guy on the planet.

By the way did you watch the Quinton, Henderson fight? That was a freakin war man!

This could be a very good fight. Hendersons strength (wrestling) is Andersons weakness. Striking is in favor of Silva accuracy wise but Henderson hits extremely hard as well and can anyone knock hollywood out?? Doesnt seem like it. Silva is bjj but Dans strength from wrestling could give him control on the ground. Seems in favor of Henderson, I love Silvas striking ability but I just want to see a great fight no matter who wins….

I prefer to watch Anderson fight but if you watch some of Hendersons fights you will see he is extremely tough (Wanderlei Silva for example) I agree with Bill 100%, I just want to watch a great fight. Rampage is clearly no pushover he is a good all around fighter he could be champion for a long time.

Hard to see Silva winning, this is just a bad clash of styles for him. Henderson will probably need to survive 1 attack from Anderson in the first round, but he has a rock solid chin and very heavy hands. I hope Silva wins but I can’t see it.

I think anderson wins in a dominate fashion. Henderson has the power but dropping 20 pounds could take a toll. Anderson will dominate the stand up and the clinch. I also beleive that silvas long limbs will give him the advantage on the ground. henderson will struggle gettin silva to the ground but it will happen so im predictin silva by tringle choke in the second

Hendersons granite chin could nullify the reach advantage of Anderson. Once Hendersons grabs ahold of Silva he will go down even Couture said he was extremely strong, he took down Rampage and he (Rampage) is probably the strongest LH out there…On the other hand Andersons accuracy with strikes could be difficult to deal with…

i think dan has it in the bag anderson is a hell of a striker and one of the most exciting fighters i’ve seen but when anderson and dan trade i think dan is gonna shoot for the clinch and just sweep silva to the ground and remain in the dominant positon with his wrestling and if you dont think he’ll pin him on the mat look to the travis lutter fight with silva which i think was his toughest fight in the octagon, so its a must see for sure but my money is on Hollywood

Don’t underestimate Silva’s strength. Henderson isn’t WAY stronger, though he does have a slight strength advantage. Everyone thinks Anderson is small and skinny because of how he looks on TV. I have met him a few times, and he is way bigger than I expected. And how do you compare Wandi’s striking with Andersons? Anderson helped Wandi with his striking and added more to his arsenal. Wandi is stronger, but Anderson is way faster, accurate, and throws combinations instead of throwing power punches the whole time. Anderson’s stand up is second to none, and Hendo’s wrestling is second to none. This is going to be fight of the year and maybe even UFC history. I got Silva taking it.
