Hendo deserves wutever he wants, hes the fuckin man.
I understand Dan’s thinking, but I also think it could backfire on him. He’s applying his own logic of who he is and how he thinks things should be, but his ideas and Reality as it is aren’t matching up. First of all, he LOST two attempts at the title in the UFC. So he has not held a title there, that contributes to his perceived value. Secondly, tis is bad timing for him to do this, renew your contract, become champ (if he actually can, which I doubt), go back up to 205, try for the belt there again, and then if he wins there, then he can actually prove who he is and how much he’s worth. The guys he’s beat in the ufc, well 2 of them were decisions, and not so spectacular, and his knockout of Bisping, although spectacular was not against an opponent who was actually a killer like Silva. I think Dan blew it. He should suck up his pride (pun intended) and take what they are offering, or squeeze just a little more than they are offering out of them and get over it. Fuck Strikeforce, or Japan.
Henderson against Shogun would be interesting
pay the man!!!!
Henderson, as always a classy, well spoken guy.
Glad to see he had no problem fighting Nate. So at least now we know the problem closing the deal between Hendo and UFC wasn’t the title shot, but the UFC not paying Hendo what he deserves.
I’d like to see Hendo finish his carreer in the UFC instead of in Strikeforce where his only good fight would be against Mousasi.
I hope hendo goes to strikeforce.. And dirty your not a real mma fan your just a dude or gal with tunnil vision.
Poor Dan.
He thought he was impressing people (and Dana) by knocking Bisping the fawk out.
BUT…Dana spent lots of dough building up Bisping, and I suspect he’s got some hard feelings.
Dan thought he’d get more $$ but his win ‘cost’ the UFC mucho UK pounds – so now he’s asked to take a pay cut.
Dana King is slowly emerging – you watch
(just with the opposite hair do)
I just don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel for Dan. He lost some of his speed in the past few years and became somewhat one dimensional fighter. I don’t thinks he will ever win against Silva and neither Mousasi at Strike Force. If he goes to 205 does anyone really thinks he will be able to handle Machida or Shogun speed?
I like the guy specially back in the Pride days but in my opinion he will never be a champion again.
he’s not going to sign with anybody except with UFC, PERIOD! Don’t be a TITO, Dan!
Dirty, it’s kinda hard to extrapolate based on not knowing what the UFC truthfully offered. To say Dans on or off base is unknown until we know the amount offered. He eludes to it multiple times and plays it up like he asked for a lot of money.
who knows, but your opinion is valued, I had never thought about it quite like that.
Dan is a good fighter but he needs to realize he’s not a big ppv draw.
Never knew Hendo liked to kill helpless animals with with a gun from afar like a coward. Strange someone who competes man to man with no weapons would be into that.
ufc should pay him what he wants
I think hes got a point about making enough to retire – in response to dirty – though what ure saying may be true – i dont think he has enough time in his career to pull it off and then expect the big bucks…..
Hendo is the gentleman of MMA, he is a great guy and a great fighter im a big fan of this guy probably the best fighter out there!
R, you are an idiot, and a whiny little pansy to boot.
I’ve always been a Hendo fan, and was happy to see him join the UFC. If he goes to Strikeforce it means instant irrelevance. Stay in the UFC Hendo!
Hendo Hunts! I like him even more now, he is awesome!
Win the your next two fights impressively. Win that title. And then…you can ask for an insane amount of money. Right now you most likely not worth the investment. Fact is…UFC goes on strong as ever with or with out Hendo. He should sign the contract and then prove he is worth more. I agree with the UFC’s decision at the moment. If he goes to Strikeforce he is done.
I’ll be very happy seeing Strikeforce gain some serious fighters to be a legitimate opposition to the UFC. The UFC is big, but not big enough to monopolize the entire sport. If strikeforce pay more and can afford it… I say good luck to all concerned. I just wanna see more fights, better fights and more often…
LOL @ Dana King – great comment.
Strikeforce keeps on looking better and better
Hendo always tells it like it is; he’s been highly critical of this ufc monopoly since the begining.
How in the hell can anyone blame Hendo for Shopping? The UFC has thrown the guy under the bus – then reversed it back over him.
He beats Franklin decisively, then sends Bisping into the afterlife with one of the TOP 5 KOs of all time (in my opinion). The UFC promises Dan the Silva rematch.
Then it’s announced that Vitor is fighting Silva for the belt….title contention his SECOND fight back into the Octagon?? WTF?
I’m surprised Dan is still with the UFC after that F&*@! Job.
I never understand comments where people think fighters are doing themselves a disservice by looking for the best deal.
These people have very limited careers and only have precious few years to achieve what they need to feed their families.
Under the current structure the UFC has become the worlds most glamorous sweat shop. Their total payout for the last card was under 1 million, while the gate alone was almost 2 million. That means more than half the gate and all of the ppv was in their pocket.
I understand there’s venue costs and costs incurred to put on the show but at the end of the day they are raking in huge money and giving very little to their fighters.
If Hendo leaves for SF and they give him a good signing bonus, good for them. They would only attract more top talent as they have a few of the best there already.
I read a comment above that Hendo needs to win a title and then shop around, that’s completely unrealistic. The UFC has a clause known as the champions clause which automatically renews if you are a title holder. This is their way of not letting a current champion leave and risk losing elsewhere. That’s why Randy Couture wasn’t able to fight Fedor.
MMA in general and the UFC specifically needs to grow up and pay it’s fighters better across the board. Dana White is always talking about this sport being bigger than the NFL one day, that’ll never happen until they correct some mis-perceptions about the sport, and create a profit sharing system with their employees like most sports already do.
I wish Hendo luck, he does deserve a good pay day he’s earned it. By the way everyone at my place that watched the Hendo vs Rampage fight thought Hendo edged him in that decision but that’s the way it goes.
Hendo deserves it! Man puts on a show and NEVER complains. Dana needs to man up and stop crying cuz Hendo KnOCKED the crap out of the count DANAs UK golden boy!
