Cung Le performed according to his game plan. Hate to see Frank get hurt from the fight, but he’ll need to have a different game plan for the rematch. Trying to stand-up with Cung Le wasn’t a good idea.

Great fight.
Thats twice now that Frank cant walk out of the ring on his own power after a fight. He leaves it all in the ring that I respect but he may be showing age.
Frank should have tried more take downs. Why not?
No one has ever ground and pounded Le but even the best get taken down and Shamrock has some crafty submissions that he never got to try.

I agree. i dont understand it, y didnt he try to take him down. frank has behaved like his older bro in a recent fight, where he refused to try to take his opponent down, not even once.
it almost seems as if both frank & ken have lost their taking-down talents from some evil spell!!!!

I agree the whole fight Le was knocking him around and Frank has a good ground game he should of switch levels really fast and seen if he could choke him out.

kung fu is making a comeback. Cung le’s unorthodox non muay thai stand up was confusing frank

Cung is amazing.
I agree that frank should have tried more take downs, but when you opponent is Cung Le - you can’t get that close, he’ll kick you in the ribs. Franks problem was his arrogance thinking he could out kick and punch Cung, thats just not going to happen. I’ve read a lot of comments about Le’s inability to KO people, this is a HUGE misconception. Cung choose not to go for the KO, he’s a technician and a showman. His background in Sansho focus scoring points from kicks, punches, and throws - so when he enters the ring he wants to put on a show. If there is any question of the power of his kicks, ask Frank about the broken arm. Imagine if Shamrock had not been able to block those kicks, he’d be waking up from them tomorrow.

Don’t wanna bash Frank but he had it coming. If anyone saw his previous fight, he was losing to Renzo until he through a serious of illegal shots which gave Renzo a concussion. His explanation was “hey i thought we were here to fight.” One of Renzos handlers replied “if we’re not going to have rules then we might as well be biting and eye gouging.” Frank came into this fight with some really bad kharma. Wound up with a broken arm.

When you are in the cage with someone like Cung Le, shooting is not as easy as you think. Fighters at that caliber often make their opponents look helpless at their own game. Can you see how fast those kicks were? Frank didnt’ want to get KO if he was relentless trying to shoot. It is very difficult to get engaged when you fight with kicker. It was amazing to see Cung Le did so many kick without gassin..

After Franks interview, you could tell Frank just wanted to put on a good show more than winning by submission. He specifically said he wanted to show his striking with Cung. If he fights Cung again, I suspect there will be a totally different approach

lol…excuse my Vietnamese? His english is better then mine. Seems very humble, he has my respect. Frank’s very good but he seems to have little respect for most fighters…the Gods smile on Le.

I don’t understand why some say Cung has good knockout strikes? They aren’t that powerful. I mean Frank took two CLEAN and hark kicks at the end of the 3rd round and he wasn’t “waking up from them tomorrow” like some ignorant say, or then it is impossible to knockout The Legend…

Speaking of knockouts, Frank almost put Cung to sleep at the end of the fight, just before he got hit with those headkicks from Cung. I can’t wait to see Shamrock try it again in a rematch!

Hope he has better luck next time and won’t break his arm or anything else. It had to be really painfull to punch with a broken arm. Only a true warrior could do that! Something Renzo isn’t: I mean while doing his masterful jiujitsu, he accidently got knocked out by The Legend on his back! Either Renzo pussied out or Frank is the greatest knockout artist ever…

Bad luck for Frank! He almost put Cung to sleep just before he got hit with those two kicks to the head at the end of the 3rd round. And Frank did all that with a broken arm!
