Cro Cop To Fight Tatsuya Mizuno Not Nakao At Dream March 15

The photo is of Assuerio Silva beating down Cro Cop’s next opponent Tatsuya Mizuno.

Mirko Cro Cop now will not make his DREAM debut against Yoshihiro Nakao, as previously reported. While it’s still unclear why Nakao decided to pull out, it was confirmed earlier today that Japanese judoka Tatsuya Mizuno will take his place and now fight Cro Cop.

Mizuno is almost a unknown fighter with 3-2 record that contains no notable opponents.

Here is a quote from Cro Cop’s blob post.

“Although I announced Yoshihiro Nakao as my first opponent in DREAM, this fight is not going to happen. I’m not familliar with reasons and I won’t be asking for any. The most important thing is that I’m going to fight on Saturday and my opponent will be Tatsuya Mizuno. I have very little information about my next opponent so I’ll just go out there and fight.”

I don’t agree,
I think a lot of us expected more from Mirko in the ufc, but isn’t there a possibility that he went true a “sucky” moment in his carreer? Personaly I think mirko will be back on track soon, and we will be able to watch the old mirko bang(I sure hope so). All good fighters have once lost two fights in a row (eg. Chuck Liddell). He’s had some health problems, needs to addapt to a new environment, gets kneed in the balls and you guys are talking about abandoning him…
after losing two in a row. Gimme a break.
The only criticism I aprove is that he’s messuring his strikes a lot more, then he used to ( I mean: not striking that often and waiting too long)

Of course this is my opinion and I’m not the kind of guy that thinks he’s always right. So blast away your comments…

It’s funny how fighters who seemed almost super human in Pride like Cro Cop and Hendo come over here and lose their asses, yet run of the mill fighters like Rampage and Anderson Silva come to US and are champs over night, gos to show how byast and set up Pride was (though i loved watching)
Also makes me wonder how the legendary Fedor will fair if he will ever nut up and come fight in the UFC.

I disagree wit what was jus sed abt PRIDE bein fixed. What a moron. A fight is determined by the better guy on the night, make it a series of 5 matches against the same opponent, i dun think a guy can win all 5. All im saying is each fight is different. U cant compare Rampage(who lost to w.silva 2x), Liddell(who lost to Rampage 2x) and Silva(who lost to Liddell)and determine whose the best of all the three. Its like a cycle. Wanderlei > Quinton > Chuck > Wanderlei and so on. The question is, whose better on the night.

Fedor as much as i hate to admit it, wld find it tough in UFC(different rules,no soccer kicks/stomps on a downed opp blind judges, legal knees-to-balls etc). Its like taking R.Federer or whoever is the number one in TENNIS right now and put him in a TABLE TENNIS MATCH and expect him to be a world champion OVERNIGHT.

i think fedor would adapt to anyting. this is a multi talented fighter. he has the strongest knock out power in someones full guard. he’s adapted from sambo rules, to pride, k-1, and that bodog event. also pride there’s no knee to ball action man.

ya know.. if ya think about it.. not everyone is cut out to be “well rounded” especially being the type of striker Cro Cop was in his prime.. the Pride Ring was setup for strikers.. where as the UFC you can pin yer opposition up against the fence.. totally takes what worked for Cro Cop out of it’s element.. the UFC did a better job of finding guys that could actually beat cro cop then pride ever did.. he got whooped in the end by a good fighter.. but this is what I believe.. the UFC isn’t for everyone.. not everyone see’s whats involved.. they see the worst UFC fighter’s and believe that that’s the lowest of the low.. ppl have no perspective

crocop is too one dimensional to be the top fighter, he is useless on the ground, pride does have some pretty crappy japanese fighter to feed him unlike the ufc. the reason he left is because he is a star in japan but not in the states. he’ll never get the same attention he gets in japan being non american in the ufc.

jamieo, where as for the most part, I agree with you, the “abandoning” part I do not. Did you catch the Ken Shamrock fight? Its still on the main page. Everyone has given up on Ken. Was he a great fighter at one time? Yes. Is he now? Not even close. He is old, he is too cautious, his reflexes are poor, his heart is gone. Not to say the same happened to Mirko, yet, but if he continues his losing streak, it should become quite aparent that he is a has been, and needs to move on. On a side note, for all of you saying pride was “fixed”, how the hell can you defend ufc when it allows fighters to win via commiting illegal strikes?
