I watched this fight live on pay per view and this punch was so quick it caught me by surprise. I’m still in shock right now. I am a big time Liddell fan but damn, Liddell got beat in his own game. Liddell really needs a NEW game plan when he fights, people know what to expect when he fights, he CANNOT just stand up all the time and expect to knock ppl out. Chuck Liddell is being exposed now and he needs to mix up his skills more so his striking will be more effective. You never know what to expect from MMA, any fighter has a chance to win. That’s why I gotta give more props to the fighters who are winning on a consistent basis like Anderson Silva, Fedor, GSP, BJ Penn, and Randy Couture, these guys are the real superstars in MMA.

um, three questions…

first off, where in the fuck where the leg kicks on rashad? his stance was ridiculously wide and all i saw was someone waiting around for a knockout. shitty fight.

second, does rashad even realize that had he NOT been that split second quicker that he’d be the one sleeping?

lastly, how is anyone to be impressed with this finish? liddell has lost to rampage twice, but beats wanderlai…who beat rampage via KO twice…but before that, chuck lost to Keith freakin jardine, who was Ko’ed twice…one of those times by wanderlai…::shakes head:: chuck is not the same person he was a year an a half or more ago, which further makes me believe that rashad fought him past his prime.

horrible fight, good KO though…but still, that was not an MMA match. why would a counter fighter stalk someone? at least throw a leg kick moron. fuck i hate liddell and this is why. now have rashad fight rich, who is still in his prime, THEN i will have respect for him. but not when he fights a has been.

Everyone wanted Chuck to win but since chuck lost to Rampage and Jardine i’ve been really put off him becuase I noticed how one dimensional a fighter he is.

Wow. Chuck looked fat. That was one hell of a bomb. You could tell the whole fight, rashad had the faster hands. Chuck thought he could counter punch that jab with a downward angle motion and come up with an uppercut, and rashad already had the hook coming in. Super fast reflexes, he deserved that knockout/win.

If Chuck wants to continues with his carrier and be successful, he needs to mix it up like he did during the Silva fight. He was amazing on that night, throwing punches from every angle, his hands were up, for the most part, he threw leg kicks, high kicks and most impressive, he was shooting in on Silva, which I haven’t seen him attempt since his early days.

Chuck, I think you have three or more fights left in you, but if you are going to win. You have to stop with this one-dimensional style, because everyone has figured it out. Be the fighter that you were when you fought Wanderlei Silva and you’ll win.

when you watch the slow mo, you see that the quickest hands won that exchange. Chuck was a bit sloppy in throwing that punch as it left him open but I didn’t think he expected Rashad to be that quick (though he knew Rashad was quick, just not that quick). They both started around the same time but Rashad was first to connect and connect hard.

notice in both fights (rampage & evans) that they made chuck come to them. this screws chuck up because he’s a counter stricker. he does rely on one aspect of the game too much. wandy he used leg kicks and take downs. i also think chuck didn’t respect rashad’s power, hands down head out.
he’s got more fights left in him and all the fair weather fans talk of retirement is because their boy crush lost. the guy has to want it though and quit being so hollywood! last 4 fights he lost three that blows.

Its plain simple, Lidell is an overrated striker… yeah he sustained 4 title defenses, but he was always fighting people who didnt know how to throw a punch(Couture, Ortiz, Sobral). That said, his takedown defense is superb, and that is really important in the UFC, where the rules seem to be made to favor wrestlers, you can go for the takedown as many times as you want, if you fail with the takedown, all you have to do is place one of your knees on the mat, and you´re safe.
On the other hand, Evans striking is so under rated. From TUF 2 you could tell the guy had serious boxing skills, and well, he just proved that to the world!!

Chuck like CroCop got a taste of his own medicine. But anyways now I hear all this talk about “does Evans deserve a title shot” this is why Pride was the best organization, the way they’d handle this is they would put up a 16 man tournament with all the best 205lbs’ers. When you get older speed and precision start to go. A little speed and a little precision are why Chuck ended up on the floor instead of Rashad.

Stars like Chuck are part of the reason up and coming fighters like Rashad can make a living in this sport. Instead of talking about retiring the old guy Rashad should have said what an honor it will be to fight someone like Chuck.

If assholes like Evans are the future of the sport then I’m out.

Looks like Chuck could have used a few leg kicks in there to keep things a bit mixed up..his big mistake was dropping his blocking hand….left when he threw the right upper…but Evans show a great drive and good balance…his power speaks for itself!!!

Yes, if Chuck wants to keep fighting he’ll have to come up with a new game plan.I mean if you have natural knock out power in both hands,why not work on your take downs and ground game just to MIX it up a little and keep your opponent guessing. I’m just a fan and I know hindsight is 20-20 but I said, the most probable way Chuck would lose to Rashad would be coming straight in with no head movement. Chuck has a good chin not a great one. Hats off to Rashad, he executed his fight pretty much perfect.

it is one thing to celebrate by riasing your arms, and jumping on the cage but these instances were just to hummilate the opponent. I think the fact that Chuck was made into a greasy spot on the canvas was humiliating enough.

Show boating to excess should come with a monitary fine.
