That’s why Big John is/was the best ref in the sport. He did an excellent job of identifying a knockout and preventing more head damage.

Cholo, are you serious? Randleman was out. When he woke up he didn’t know what happened and that’s why he went nuts. His lights went out and his knees buckled. Chuck would have landed a LOT of unnecessary punches because Randleman was helpless at that point.

Its not an early stoppage because, since John stopped it were he did, Kevin was able to recover fairly quickly, but assuming he didn’t stop it chuck would have landed a bunch of brain bouncers and Randleman would have been out for the night.

Randelman was definitely headed for some more damage. The key is that Randelman had to recover for about half a minute before he suddenly got angry about the stoppage. This was a great stoppage and just another testament of why Big John is by far the best ref. Was Tito wearing a weightlifter belt? Good to see even in 2001 he was a douchebag. At least he’s consistent.

you are right on. Randleman was clearly out, and would have just taken serious defenseless head shots had Mccarthy not stopped it. I saw that leg lock up after the second hit, that’s a pretty sure sign.

A tad too early stoppage..just cuz you got rocked doesn’t mean he’s out.I don’t think randleman was out but on the other hand,he didn’t lift his knees as to confuse the takedown.Chuck even missed with his right combo after randleman’s brain said”Get the hell back” He got rocked,not knocked. “Saving a few head punches” is not an excuse.Then why step in the ring?

Four unanswered shots to the chin/head with the hands down (the last two with the hands completely at the waist and the body stiff like a board) is hardly an “early stoppage”. If you think so, obviously you like to see unconscious people get beat on, and that makes you a sick f#*%.
Randleman got pissed at Big John because Randleman is a total prick. He should’ve thanked him for saving about 5 years of brain function and allowing him to wake up so soon. The human body can’t take many hard knockouts like that. Ask the many NFL players who basically have lifelong headaches. Another 2 seconds and Randleman would’ve had much longer lasting, and perhaps permanent, damage.

1:28 – Lands a lef hook to the temple.
1:29 – Land a right straight to the jaw.
Randlemen wen completely stiff after the right. As soon as he was hit with it, Big John stopped the fight. Someone said something about this being rigged, others say early stoppage. You guys should stop watching mma, especially since you obviously don’t watch replays.
