UFC 137 fight videos of Cheick Kongo vs. Matt Mitrione main card bout.
This was a good fight for Mitrione to learn what he is lacking. He played it too safe when he had the chance to punch more and his ground defense is weak. “Meat Head” better learn from his mistakes or it will be a bumpy ride on the way down.
one of the stupidest fights i’ve ever seen.
Wow, awful scoring, they should just announce the winner and avoid pissing EVERYONE off with their inept scoring. Interesting fight.
Big win for Kongo. Matt can stand to lose one and hopefully come back better after this. Really needs to work with a good wrestling camp consistently on his takedown defense. Cheick isn’t exactly a world class wrestler
what the F*** …..
Matt’s lack of agression cost him that fight, Kongo earned that win.
Bruno rules!
@john
one of the stupidest comment i’ve ever seen
Horribly boring fight. Not exciting in the least, just completely awful. Avoid watching this snooze fest unless you have absolutely nothing better to do. Seriously.
U D ???? Really? I dont see how you give all 3 rounds to kongo. First 2 he was just running away the whole time landing a leg kick here and there. He had a great 3rd round but that score is way off.
Meathead should fire everyone
Forget what the judges saw, he was arguably winning the first two rounds by being the controller/aggressor and Kongo was going to have to come at him (as he did) in the third. Instead his corner panicked and yelled at him so he came out without caution. f****** stupid
“Instead his corner panicked and yelled at him so he came out without caution”
Exactly. I was thinking why the F*** are they telling him to ease off and not turn it into a brawl (which he wasn’t doing anyway) when that aggression contributed heavily to him winning the 2nd round.
Absolute morons.
Shredded, its not running away. Its called counter fighting. Machida and Lidell did this all the time with great success. Kongo took the first round because of the 2-3 leg kicks to Mitrione’s 0 punches and kicks. Second round, Kongo had the cage pressure and also landed more punches. I can see the 29-28 but 30-28? Why give them both a 10-10 first round?
Meathead seems like he’s been overrated by the propaganda machine. An ex-NFL player got dragged down and pounded out by a French kickboxer with hardly any ground game. Back to the BJJ mat for Meathead.
@j172
Because the judges suck balls.The 1st round has to be the easiest round to score ever.Mitrione landed 1 punch the whole round.Kongo landed a jad and some leg kicks.Even if they only landed very few strikes and made that round one of the most boring ever, you can’t give a draw for the 1st round and deserve a judge job.
Matt Mitrione sucks!!
I don’t see why they keep giving Kongo fights. He’s boring. He takes no chances and he’s not a killer.
30-27!?!?!?!? man the judges saw a different fight.. Meathead had the first 2 rounds.. Kongo the 3rd.. but the 3rd he really really owned… tough fight to call.. but it sure as hell wasnt a 30-27
thanks kung fu. I agree about the judges sucking but what i was trying to understand is why not score a 6-7 or even a 7-8 since there was a total of about 5 punches/kicks thrown. All they did was dance around the cage.
@Shredded Coconut, a unanimous decision has nothing to do with the fact that someone gave him all three rounds. All that means is that all three judges agree with who the winner was, get it through your head.
THat outa bring Meat Heads inflated cranium back to earth….demolishes 10 cans, inflates his ego to the max, then steps up the competition a little bit and couldnt do jack…. hey …he beat Kimbo LMAO
Btw, I had it 29-28 Mitrione but can understand 29-28 Kongo as well. The 30′s are confusing to me as well.
Congo is way overrated,im not impressed.
Mitrione has only himself to blame, not the judges. He stalked and stalked and barely threw anything. Didn’t do much to show he was a better fighter, and just brought a lame boring fight…You are better then this s*** Mitrione get your act together.
Damn, that fight sucked…
ive been saying for years and years they need to take a page out of the pride fc book and use the yellow card. for all u non real mma fans who dont know what that is, its when the ref calls time and holds up a yellow card to which ever fighter is being lax or non agressive and it takes away 10% of his purse. in some cases they carded both fighters. this would be one of those cases. trust me it works when they know that money is going down the toilet, and they start scrappin. wake up dana, use tha f***** yellow card on these lazy f***.
Rogan and Goldberg really had Mitrione’s nuts in their mouth’s the whole time…they really love Meathead.
One of the worst fights I have ever seen Pro or Amatuer Mitrione had such a stupid game plan and threw a total of about 12 punches the whole fight. should’ve been 30-27 Kongo Mitrione had one of the worst gameplan / strategies of all time.
Matt Matrione quit using energy going for leg locks and use that energy to stall or scramble.
@ji72 It’s a 10 point must system you idiot! Which is why they can’t give scores like 7-8. Look up the rules before you make yourself look silly
@snype6969 Agreed. I loved pride and the yellow cards. I also think ufc should get with prides scoring system that is damage based. This was a boring fight, but no way it can be called 30-27. I’ll have to re-watch this fight again and see if i can possibly see a 30-27(highly unlikely)
kongo won 30-27 meathead was coming foward but wasnt doing anything, kongo was throwing the most strikes going backwards and the last round was 10-8 easy,mitrione was looking good fighting bums, this was the guy that I saw in the ultimate fighter, going for knee bars he had no hope of getting, hes a can crusher who got recycled
Kongo is the real thing. Meathead did ok, I wished he could have been more but I had doubts that this might be the level as it was. In the earlier fight Kongo was “lucky” when he knocked out Barry. I was telling people you can try a lucky shot with Barry and probably not live to tell about that. Give Barry respect, Kongo is very powerful and experienced. He is a good but proven very hard stepping stone for any HW trying to go up for the title. It’s not far fetched that there will be Velasquez vs. Kongo II if Cain beats couple of more white guys.
