Babalu was actually one of Chael’s idols, back in the day. I wonder if that had anything to do with how easily he was handled. Either way, Chael has improved tremendously. The ’05 Chael would’ve been eaten alive by Silva, and Brian Stann.

I noticed Chael seems to be content in staying in the full guard… sometimes he takes his opponent down and moves into full guard as opposed to trying to move to side control…

This just shows how much better Chael is now. He wasn’t using his pressure style at all. Plus his style is not well suited for fighting up a weight class. He was outweighed 15 to 20 lbs.

I dont know why he kept hanging around in his guard when he was obviously trying to set up a triangle. That what happened to fedor vs whats his face. Fedor i guess figured he could get out, but you are looking for trouble doing that with the bjj pro’s.
