And what about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu??? Why we do not have it oon the Olimpic Games??? All the world is practing and learning it!!! Aside the fact that wrestling was the beggining in Greece I think it is a sport that does not have too many practioners. I’m Brazilian and I can tell you that we only have three or four schools for the sport in the whole country.

clearly the upside is that you may have more guys going to mma at an earlier stage since their isn’t a future for them in the olympics but certainly it sad when one of the fundamental sports in the olympics will be going, if it does at all there may be an argument like, would we rather see sync swimming than wrasslin? Rhetorical question. But it will take saving since there is a concentration of countries who always emerge from the competition and that may be the reason they want to disintegrate it from the olympics.

I understand the argument, and why people would be pissed about wrestling getting the boot. I don’t even watch it or have ever really wrestled, aside from maybe when I train the little I do in Defense and take downs for MMA. I still think it should stay.
I also agree that, yes, some other sports are a little outlandish to be Olympic, and yes, things like swimming have got a little out of control, freestyle in 10 different distances.

But please guys, focus on saving wrestling, not bashing other sports.

For Example: Anyone who has played a day in their life of competitive ping pong would know why its a very competitive sport, and in the Olympics. Same goes for anything else.

What the Olympic committee should be doing, is looking for MORE SPORTS TO ADD, not REMOVE. The Olympics should be something that EVERYONE should watch and be able to enjoy. The Olympics has been dying for years, if anything they could benefit from a broader viewer base.

Synchronized swimming is an Olympic sport.Trampoline is an Olympic sport. Ping pong is an Olympic sport. Wrestling, the original Olympic sport, is not an Olympic sport. Really??

Exactly. Wrestling is the sport that started the Olympics. It is the worlds oldest sport, practiced for thousands of years, in Ancient Greece, all over Africa, in China and the rest of Asia, all countries have their version. It blows my mind to think it would be cut.
