Log in to Reply TheKungFuLowKick February 14, 2013 It’s funny that with all the bullshit BORING sports nobody ever watches except during the Olympics will stay but one of the only legit sport and one of the oldest one gets removed… Log in to Reply Lazer212 February 14, 2013 Seems a bit ridiculous to do away with it. Log in to Reply hghghgh February 14, 2013 Not a wrestling fan or anything but I really would have never dreamed this could happen. I would think that Wrestling followed by Athletics (track & field, etc.) would be the last two to get cut from the Olympics. The reasons for thinking this are so obvious it’s hard to even imagine why they are getting rid of it. Log in to Reply anakonda February 14, 2013 WTF, there’s like one thousand different swimming events there and they need to kick out wrestling, one the true original Olympic sports? Just cut away half of the swimming, Phelps won 7 gold medals in one Olympics that’s stupid. How about replacing marathon and 100 meters run as well, add dog paddle swimming in 5 different distances instead? Log in to Reply hond2dciv February 14, 2013 Exactly. Wrestling is the sport that started the Olympics. It is the worlds oldest sport, practiced for thousands of years, in Ancient Greece, all over Africa, in China and the rest of Asia, all countries have their version. It blows my mind to think it would be cut. Log in to Reply rightsaysfred February 14, 2013 Synchronized swimming is an Olympic sport.Trampoline is an Olympic sport. Ping pong is an Olympic sport. Wrestling, the original Olympic sport, is not an Olympic sport. Really?? Log in to Reply HaruhiFTW February 14, 2013 I understand the argument, and why people would be pissed about wrestling getting the boot. I don’t even watch it or have ever really wrestled, aside from maybe when I train the little I do in Defense and take downs for MMA. I still think it should stay. I also agree that, yes, some other sports are a little outlandish to be Olympic, and yes, things like swimming have got a little out of control, freestyle in 10 different distances. But please guys, focus on saving wrestling, not bashing other sports. For Example: Anyone who has played a day in their life of competitive ping pong would know why its a very competitive sport, and in the Olympics. Same goes for anything else. What the Olympic committee should be doing, is looking for MORE SPORTS TO ADD, not REMOVE. The Olympics should be something that EVERYONE should watch and be able to enjoy. The Olympics has been dying for years, if anything they could benefit from a broader viewer base. Thanks Log in to Reply mma tko fan February 14, 2013 is this another sanction on Iran? no more olympic events that you can win gold medals in Log in to Reply uhhhh February 14, 2013 Whoa whoa whoa… trampoline is an olympic sport? Log in to Reply PatrickN February 14, 2013 Just make a real pro wrestling league Log in to Reply DonDonDon February 14, 2013 clearly the upside is that you may have more guys going to mma at an earlier stage since their isn’t a future for them in the olympics but certainly it sad when one of the fundamental sports in the olympics will be going, if it does at all there may be an argument like, would we rather see sync swimming than wrasslin? Rhetorical question. But it will take saving since there is a concentration of countries who always emerge from the competition and that may be the reason they want to disintegrate it from the olympics. Log in to Reply c hill February 15, 2013 ya i actually can’t believe it either. you would think they’d get rid of swimming before wrestling. sounds like Bull Sh*tt to me. Log in to Reply leoneazevedo February 15, 2013 And what about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu??? Why we do not have it oon the Olimpic Games??? All the world is practing and learning it!!! Aside the fact that wrestling was the beggining in Greece I think it is a sport that does not have too many practioners. I’m Brazilian and I can tell you that we only have three or four schools for the sport in the whole country. Log in to Reply rob February 17, 2013 **** the olympics. Think about the winter games, where that bullshit oversized event of shuffleboard on ice with non-athletes win medals for making an item stop where they want it to. I’m dond. Witnessed Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps tear it up, don’t need to patronize the IOC any more Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
