UFC 109: Relentless came in as one of the Top 10 UFC events ever in gate income totals. Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman headliner drew 10,687 attendees for a live gate of $2.3 million. UFC 100 still tops the list as the most profitable UFC events ever, with a $5,101,740 gate total.

Ex-UFC champ Randy “The Natural” Couture raked in $250,000, which was nearly a 1/4 of overall $944K fighter payroll at UFC 109: Relentless. UFC Hall of Fame member Mark Coleman was only paid $60,000 for his defeat. Chael Sonnen received $64,000 dollars, including his Win Bonus, while Nate Marquardt received $45,000.

All 20 fighters make their allowed weight for DREAM 9 “Super Hulk” event. The bouts take place at the Yokohama Arena in Kanagawa, Japan, and air in North America on HDNet at 5 a.m. ET. An encore presentation is scheduled for May 29 at 10 p.m. ET.

I have never seen a fight card so filled with unknowns and fighter shuffling. You just never knew who was going to walk out into the cage. In the end we did get to see MMA legends Ken Shamrock (27-13-2) and David “Tank” Abbott (10-14) break long losing streaks in unsatisfying sub-minute mismatches.
