Amazing fight!!
Miura took a lot of punishment, but i guess that costed him his stamina.

Wow, i really thought that Miura was going to win due to the champ being so fatigued. I felt it in my bones. But some how, what looked like a pathetic excuse of a muay thai knee strike… took him down and out. Never seen it coming, and am completely dissapointed. What a great fight though. From beginning to finish, I was yelling at the screen.

carlos was winning the fight, but with 16 seconds left? early stoppage for sure. he was still getting his hands up to defend and most of those last blows were just hitting his hands. the 5th round would have been interesting i think. great fight though. much gained respect for miura.

I am nopt familiar with WEC or either of these fighters but man what a war. I thought the stoppage was a bit early but Muira didnt look too upset about it.

I think it was fair stoppage. The ref told Miura to do something. He just sat there. Carlos might not have won with much damage inflicted, but won with intelligence nonetheless. He played the ref and got the win by peppering a completely gassed Miura.

However, a 5th round would have been absolutely crazy. Carlos is such an exciting fighter. Fun to watch on his feet, on his back, and on top. This is a fight of the year contender.

I thought the same thing. I actually got on here to see if anyone else mentioned it. I was pulling for Condit but it made me real mad when the ref, TWICE, stood them up early when Miura was on top. Then, after the fight, I noticed the ref patting Condit on the back. I’m not saying. I’m just saying.

As soon as the fight was over I could notice how BS the referee was. Not only did he stand Miura up early but he also let the fight go on when Condit was getting pounded on. The fight was great. But that ref was horrible. You can tell there was something fishy about that and it sucks because even the crowd was booing after it was stopped with 17 seconds left in the round.

I agree.. they stood it up too quickly when Miura was on top..
and then in the 4th when Condit had Full mount and was doing nothing but resting on top the ref didnt stand them up. It wasnt like he was working for a submission either.

Glad they stopped the fight when they did…sometimes these guys have such heart that if the ref doesn’t jump in they’ll literally fight to the death..taking punishment isn’t just taking blows, it’s pushing yourself past the point of exhaustion so that if you were to take a blow it would really do serious damage..great fight, great war

Great fight, but 2 things. One, that ref was total racist, every time Condit is on top, even when he wasn’t in a mount, the ref was okay with it. Whenever Miura was on top, he was like improve your position, gives him 5 seconds, then stands them up… wth. And the other thing is that one of the commentators was annoying as hell. He kept talking like he knew everything when he obviously doesn’t, ugh.

Condit did less with full mount than Miura did in full guard…Extremely biased ref.

Miura takes a little breather and feels out Condit and the ref tells him to work…he responds by connecting on Condit for a flurry but as soon as he stops, the ref stands them up

Definitely FotY candidate, no question, but what a horrible stoppage. With all the damage Rosenthal let Condit take, a few weak punches from an off-balance position should not have warranted a stoppage. He overreacted because he is, as usual, a horrible referee.

Commentators are so biased… so boring and so American. BULLSHIT STOPPAGE. I agrree with the guy who said that when Condit was on his back the fighters were stood up too soon.

I agree with Ihatehaters. It seems to me anymore that if a ref ever stops a fight, it’s controversial. It’s too soon when a guy eats unanswered shots for 15 seconds straight. But it’s too late when Nick Diaz beats a guy down for roughly the same amount of time. No one is ever pleased. If mma was fixed, the ref would never to stop the fights just to keep people happy.

Miura was in no danger of getting hurt when the fight was called. I’m very disappointed with the referee’s decision, as the fight could have gone either way.

Regarding the 2nd and 4th round break ups, could you imagine Dan Severn being told to advance his position. It’s called ground and pound.

Besides the TKO, the fight was very entertaining. I would like to see a rematch between the two, however, next time the Judge should let the fight go on.

you do understand that a bias referee is capable of swaying that vote, don’t you? like, for example, standing up one fighter a lot faster than the other when they are in top position.
