bruno you rock keep em coming brother….
i just lost a buck… to myself
frustrating fight to watch
velasquez is soooo one dimensional, but he’s crazy good at it, I think another step up in competition will be too much for him right now.
Damn, that was frustrating. They were on the feet for about a minute total and Kongo would have destroyed Cain if he had been able to keep it up for another 2 minutes or so.
Damn, good control.
Great aggression and control by Cain. Congo has a lot more heart then I ever thought he did. If only he knew how to separate better.
velasquez is very very very bad ass!!
next ufc champ
Cain beat kongo like a bongo
Yeah! thanks Bruno!
kongo’s game plan sucked. there were a lot of points where kongo could of broke away and should of stood up and back, instead he tried to wrestle a king of wrestling.
Cain’s a takedown master. That was pure wrestling…but he could have had the arm bar about a dozen times. He needs to work on his jiu jitsu and striking. But what a beast for being so one-dimensional.
WOW, Cain Velazquez aped him…..Give him another round COngo would be dead…that was jsut pride keeping him from quiting….what a beating, didnt think that would happen
now wheres all the kongo nut huggers at?????
Thank’s Bruno!!!
Heart of a Mexican… Heart of Warrior… I actually felt bad for Kongo at the End of the 3rd round…
Awesome takedown & control but passed up about a dozen arm bar opps. If his jiu jitsu was better he’d be willing to take more risks on top. He was afraid of the reversal and was way too conservative.
Cain needs to learn how to use elbows.
Valesquez is not yet ready to fight top competition, Kongo is awesome on the feet but this fight shows how weak his td defense and ground game are. You can never be a serious contender with such an obvious weakness. All this and he still could have won this fight.
Frustrating to watch because Kongo seemed to have such an upper hand during stand-up, but very good competition overall…if both continue to win, I’d say it’d be worthy of a rematch.
Cheik Congo has no clue on the bottom. The only succesful way he got up was by using the cage.
Thats good and all but….whats he goung to do against a guy like brock lol, kongo at least had standup… this fight pissed me off lol
I want someone to eff up brock soon
Kongo has so much potential. If he can just work exclusively on takedown defense and getting back to his feet, this guy is unstoppable. Unfortunately, every loss in the UFC has exposed that weakness.
Carwin will own this man.
cain will be like gonzaga. a good up & comer, gets a title shot, loses.
I agree with Pocketmouth, if this fight spent another couple minutes on the feet Cain woulda got Ko’d or TKO’d. As soon as he fights a striker with the ability to avoid some take downs or atleast have some ability to get back to his feet he’s going to get tooled.
Smart fight by Cain. I don’t see anybody that could hang with him. Carwin vs Valasquez seems eminant. Lesner is big and strong but Valasquez is one guy that he wont be able to throw around. The heavywieght division is so exciting now.
Man, Congo was right where he needed to be a couple of times…in the clinch in perfect position to knee him in the nuts as per his typical game plan. Cain’s takedowns were just too quick though. I’ve been questioning Congo’s ground game ever since he fought Assuerio Silva. There’s just NOTHING there. And I’m not fond of him anyway because of the crap he pulled with Crocop.
obvious domination by Cain; Kongo is a bit too long & linear/lacking mass to effectively counter take-downs. He’s similarly built to Spider Silva but lacks the overall ability and fast twitch reflexes. He had some chances if only he could of kept it on the feet?
damn..i aint sleepin on cain no more boy…fkn good ass wrestling displayed there and control..fkn madd relentless for a fkn heavyweight damn he gunna have a good azz career uuUUu DiGG?
wrestling is soooo boring to watch.. dry humping is way more fun when a girl or two is involved
Some observations:
Kongo was far superior in standup, it was his foolish gameplan that hurt him. I am not thinking he would have won or been able to stop “Brown Pride” (I hate that tatt) but every time he connected, he seemed to hurt Valesquez. Kongo needs to improve his ground game to advance, period.
Cain, if he faces Brock Lesnar, will be destroyed in my opinion. He is a good wrestler, but Lesnar is the King. He also has punching power that is possibly greater than Kongo.
Valequez will lose badly to Lesnar when they finally match up. And I think Lesnar will defeat Mir pretty handily, so that will be the next step for Cain.
Cain isn’t who we thank he is.
Kongo had 3 weeks to prepare for him,
an Cain wasnt able to finsih or put anything agianst him.
Yeah, relentless takedowns an he put on a good hold, but i mean come on, the punches were weak an when they were standing, Kongo was a punch away.
I wanted Kongo to win. I think he’s the better fighter an i think he stands a better chance.
Cain wont beable to stand with top HW like Gonzagaga, Couture, Nog, Mir or Brock.
cain aint ready for the big boys yet, like carwin or brock.
Great win for Velasquez, but I don’t see him dominating positions against strong wrestlers like Carwin or Lesnar. Will see…
This fights proved 2 things:
Kongo still doesn’t have a ground game and Velasquez has a glass chin.
I don’t think Velasquez can take a more well rounded fighter like Mir or Minotauro in the good days. Fedor would assassinate him.
Lesnar vs. Velasquez will be the most boring fight of all times!
did anybody count how many times cain bitch tossed kongo? Good fight!! I thought cain gassed until the flury at the end…
why is every body up on Lesner nuts…hes had a handful of real fights….I still think he is ok…and maybe up and getting better..
GOOD fight for Cain he has a good future !!! but he has to practice in submision
I would like to see Junior Dos Santos against either one of these fighters, I think his stand up and Jitz would give him a chance.
cain went in smart w/ the ground game to capitalize on kongo’s weakness. i appreciate the fact that he tried to stay active on the ground and not do the lay n pray s***. he put that active g&p beating as if he was a heavyweight st. pierre. he deserved that win cause he displayed how hungry he was for it.
my guess is velasquez is going to fight shane carwin next
im dying laughing at all you retarded nut huggers talkin about kongo’s potential, because… i didn’t see potential, I saw him rolling around like a turtle getting pounded on and begging for the bell. Lesnar = not the king. Let time tell and stop sucking his tube steak. He isnt Kimbo slice, but he isnt fedor, either. Im hoping Mir to take him. And cain, yeah, he seems to be lacking in power when it comes to the striking, but hes a phenominal wrestler, and you all seem to under play that because it was Kongo he was taking down and holding instead of some one else. Whatevs. Go Cain. He dominated Kongo because Kongo couldnt knee him in the nuts, nor could he land more then one or two punches without completing giving up his defense and being taken down. Punchers luck, thats Tank Abbott. And Kongo.
Man Congo is the bigger looser in this bout. How many times did he have the opportunity to break away and keep it on the feet where is he strongest. Yet the bump ass tries to take Cain to the ground. He lost because 1. He is stupid and 2. He has absolutely no ground game what so ever.
PitFighterZ are you blind. Kongo blasted him with his best shot and Cain still came back to win. Man, open your eyes or get a clue.
boring…… once he fights a decent wrestler like shane carwin, or brock lesner its good night Cain because he will get KTFO if he keeps fighting like a puss
Velazquez changed my opinion of him tonight, though not for the better or worse. I initially thought he lacked the split second decision making ability, but he proved me wrong when he was able to get rocked and immediately go to his bread and butter and regain control, but he opened a whole new can of worms as far as things he really is lacking. He seems to have the desire and capacity to improve so once again…let’s just wait and see what he does next. And just to be clear, beating Kango was no small feat.
Cain did what he had to for the win. I’d rather see more standup but that would have landed Cain in the hospital.
Still not impressed with Cain.
This has to be one of the worst fights I’ve ever seen! and it was the second last fight of the night! DW should be ashamed of him self, Congo has had six years to at the very least learn some basic ground game but no, this waist of space doesn’t even know the basics, what is he doing in the UFC if he can’t even prevent someone who has, at best an average ground game from taking full mount when ever he chooses… he didn’t even try throw him off. Velasquez does not have good control it’s he only ever had one heel hook in, if he had any skills what’s so ever he could have finished with a rear naked choke or arm bar (near the end) but he didn’t because he’s s***! just wait till he goes up a level, he’s completely one dimensional. DW should be embarrassed, bring back Pride… rant over :]
Caines gonna get smashed one he fights someone with ground game.
Cain is very very good at his control but not as good as Brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar would dominate Cain on the ground and stand up. Poor Kongo, work on your ground buddy.
This was by far the most exciting fight of kongo’s career.
Did anyone notice how man “back of the head” shots that Cain leveled against Kongo without a peep from Mirgliotta? In the very least, those punches should have warranted a stand up.
“Brown Pride” will likely wind up with brown shorts laying on the mat when he faces Carwin or Lesnar. He is a good wrestler, but they are great wrestlers and each as strong as proverbial bull.
After Congo landed those two big shots he closed the distance and was taken down. If he stood back and landed two more hard shots, that fight would have been over.
Congo is such a nice person. He allways give his aponents so many chanses to win the fight. His takedown defence is one of a kind. I really think my grandmother could take him down.
Why can´t he do what he does best – legkicks and punches? I mean, his mui-thai is so good….
now lets see cain fight shane carwin that would be a crazy fight with cain getting KTFO
can velasquez do this to brock or mir? That is the question.
to all the guys who said that kongo would destroyd velasques….you don´t have seen the fight kongo vs. crazy horse (i forgot his name)…he doesn´t know how to fight again wrestler/ringer.
velasques has an incredible ground controll, but he has just 6 fights. he has to improve his stand up fight and learn how to finished a fight with such a controll. if they give him time and two another good fights (not mir or lessnar), he can be the next ufc champion. at this time he has not enough experience to fight a big guy like lessnar and a expert in bjj like mir.
….but he destroys kongo and thats a message!!!
Loved this fight and especially enjoyed watching Cain control and beat on a grounded Kongo. Cain needs to work on his standup big time but looked good everywhere else. I’d like to see Kongo vs Gonzaga next.
This fight proved 2 things:
1. Kongo still doesn’t know how to beat a wrestler
2. Cain’s chin is suspect.
Like a lion attacking an elephant or a giraffe or smthn.
ummmm
Cain, did what he needed to do to win, he seems to be very aware of his opponents weakness. What more do you want?
Before the fight many of you guys were talking about Cain getting KTFO, now you guys think it will happen next fight…LOL sour losers
HELLO! he just beat the living crap out of Congo!!! Total destruction! No chance for Congo! yea Cain may need to get better but he went RIGHT AFTER CONGO AT THE BELL! and wrecked him! Good fight!
If only Kongo had a ground game… He was winning the stand up, but looked lost (again) on the ground. Kongo has a hell of a heart and Cain has fantastic ground control. But his (Cain) chin doesn’t look like it’ll hold up well against a great well-rounded fighter.
mabey cain vs carwin? winner get title shot
Bout time somebody whipped Congo’s ass real good.
I hope the UFC gives Kongo the boot and he signs with Dream so Crocop can get his revenge by way of kicks to the nuts, then Overeem should get the same treatment. Hopefully Gonzaga will lose again and get kicked out of the UFC so Crocop can rematch in a ring instead of the cage. I could care less about Skid Mark Pride, Carwin, Dildo Chest or Mir with there boooriing crappling.
Message to Congo: Hire a Jiu-Jitsu trainer asap.
Kongo should not have clinched so damn much and timed the knee 4 the takedown. He needs to lower his center of gravity- basically work his wrestling.
brock would throw valasquez around all day there is like a 40 pound difference and brock is the best wrestler at hw cain would have no chance
Brock would murder him……Mir would destroy him also!!!!
Noguiera would beat him also…..
Nice jiu jitsu by velasques, good transitions, good shape and very conditioning, this division are inproving
Cain will be the UFC champ, maybe in a year or two but he will for sure. he is no one dimentional, he was only one dimentional for this fight, remember congo on his feet could kick lesnar ass, congo is the one dimentional.
This kid is the future of the heavy weights
Congo has Zero Ground skills and Velazquez coundnt submit him. Velasquez kept the fight on the ground with strikes but couldnt knock Kongo out. Frustrating fight. We know now that Velasquez is the better wrestler but thats not saying much.
