if you ever thought this show was real you must also think pro wrestling is real. these people are making a joke out of mma, trying to make pro mma fighters look like heros or something…?

Jon Dough Says, in 4-16-2009 at 02:25:06 from

The idea/concept is a good idea in itself. The police depts should hire MMA practitioners to whoop the asses of all these punk kids. Who know, it could change lives and in the process get them off the streets, and into the gyms to be martial artists. MMA is brutal, violent, and too much for some, but at the same time, with rules like the UFC have, it is safe to the point where they’ll fix you up if you’re broken. MMA is a way of life, a way to stay out of trouble, and if you’re any good, a way to earn a check, and possibly a spot in the UFC. It’s a shame that the show is fake, cuzz I’m sure they could find real story lines no problem. I’ll still watch it for the fights, cuzz that’s what I FF to anyways. Peace to anyone who read this.

Thxer Says, in 4-16-2009 at 02:44:57 from

It’s not real?! Damn, I was sure there were a bunch of tough ass inline roller skaters who were out knocking dudes out. Guess I’ll take my rollerblades back, bummer.

I still think Mayhem is entertaining even though the rest of it clearly is staged.

Mute Says, in 4-16-2009 at 06:20:33 from

Almost all if not everyone of the shows MTV has aired is fake or the situations are staged. I noticed this a long time ago with shows like the Hills, Viva La Bam, etc. They all have staged situations for dramatics. I still like Rob & Big regardless but the other shows are just f****** retarded to watch.

Mute Says, in 4-16-2009 at 06:24:32 from

A station which calls itself MTV(Music Television) yet shows no freaking music at all is not to be trusted. Oh, they also have a woman for a CEO, I wonder how much that has to do with their ethics.

NEWS FLASH! the only reality in reality TV is the fact that there are real people (as opposed to animated characters) on them. I’ve known 2 people who have been on reality TV shows, and everything (I mean) EVERYTHING is staged. Perhaps aside from the fights on TUF, everything else is staged. By perhaps I mean more than likely. Sorry to burst your bubble(s).

qwijibo Says, in 4-16-2009 at 10:04:35 from

I can tell this show was bullshit when the two guys who were “bullied” complained how the “bully” never paid rent and even had to move out because his credit was shot since they had to compensate for the “bully’s” rent. So instead of something called the legal system to settle their score, they go through MTV. COME ON MTV, AT LEAST MAKE THE PREMISE SOMEWHAT REALISTIC!

Oh, the person has to be slammed to a wall by the bully at least once an episode.

johnny813 Says, in 4-16-2009 at 10:46:05 from

I knew the acting sucked but they are flat out lying about the bullying part? These Joe stuntmen are paid no matter what which makes this show a complete hoax. Maybe Mayhem should be forced to tell everyonne after the show to have their pets spaid or neutered.

Yeah, don’t pick a fight with pro fighters…but whats to stop them from continually picking on the guys they already were? It would be better if they instead trained the guys that got picked on in MMA and have them beatdown the bully.

couchpotato Says, in 4-16-2009 at 13:51:20 from

I’m sure there’s some truth to this article but the premise that all the bullies are stunt men is just as stupid as believing that the show is completely real. The truth usually lies somewhere in between.

Bruno: I did not say all of the bullies were pro stuntmen but some claim to be. Any person who climbs into a cage with one of these fighters and are not pro fighters but get paid to fight are, in a way, a stuntman.
The problem I have with the show is that the victims were never bullied in the first place. In most cases they have never even met each other. That is what the show is claiming to represent.

adambomber Says, in 4-17-2009 at 12:41:24 from

lol at the scientology ad

and….what dont you guys get…one guy was an actor, one a stuntman, both on tv shows

thats what these reality stars do, go around making up stories to get on tv.

now this is just like Maury Povich or Jerry Springer, or any reality show or talk show, because the guests can lie

I could tell it was bs when i saw the actor guy whos picture is shown above have a tattoo that said “family first” and he was supposably terrorizing his family, yeah right

This guy being a stuntman and the other an actor and both being on tv before suggests they made up being a bully, but the thing is, how far did Mayhem and mtv go to insure the validity of the “bullying”

to the guy who acted like bruno suggested they were all stuntmen….are you in second grade? your reading comprehension and comprehension in general must be very poor
Shoot Bruno even showed a picture of a guy and said he was an actor
and if one of the “bullies” are an actor or stuntman, chances are they all are in the industry in same manner

“Wow I knew you guys still loved me. lol I can’t believe all the messages. Ok this is going to be my only post as I’m sure I won’t be able to post after this. The owner of this board won’t show my posts. However that works I’m not sure. This last project that was on TV this past Sunday called Bully Beat Down is just like a movie, it’s scripted. All is fake. Come on it’s MTV for goodness sake. Just for your info I signed a contract that the fight will be at 240lbs. It also stated that I had to go down in the 2nd round. Hence Bully Beat Down. You get it? I wanted to get paid, so I had to follow the contract. It was a large sum of money plus the money distributed from the fight. If it didn’t show me getting beat what kind of a show would it be? The show was filmed in SLC awhile ago. Surprised you guys didn’t know that. Besides I’m back at my weight from before the fight which is 205. EJG36 is the only one that knew it was fake. Congratulations to you EJG36 you had obviously had experience or knows someone in the profession. Yes it’s all about exposure and getting my handsome face out there. I have lots of projects I’m working on right now and just signed a contract for a new movie that will be out next year. You guessed it I play a Bully transformed into a nice guy ironic isn’t it? Hey watch me on “Lie to Me”. I subdue an assassin after he kills the Mayor. I’m getting my SAG card from this show. Also see me in the new movie coming out this year called 2012 with Danny Glover and Cusak. Not a main star yet but I’m working on it. Not bad for only being in the business for 6 months. So go ahead and post your fatso posts it’s fun to read them.

Just to let you know. BYU was a great place and I love it there as I visit quite often. Also, there were 4 players that I invited to the filming that were there.

couchpotato Says, in 4-17-2009 at 22:03:12 from

Real MMA Fighter Says, in 9-23-2009 at 23:58:01 from

Miller should distance himself from this fake s***. The only question now, what is MORE fake- bully beatdown or The Ultimate Fighter…

I’m a video producer, and I’ve done MMA small time since 1998. This Bully Beatdown crap is laughable.. Too bad, because legally, they could have made it work without faking everything..

Do a real show Miller or I’ll start a campaign slamming you! It’s bad for the sport!

Saint Gnarly Says, in 11-30-2009 at 14:45:44 from

How can this be a surprise to anybody? Seriously, it’s an entertaining show but there’s never been a doubt in my mind that it’s fake. The stories are too cornball. Mayhem cannot be faulted in the least for doing this show. It’s called “gettin’ paid”. I think he’s funny and the show is good for the sport. It will bring more people over to watch real MMA. It’s an entertaining 30 minutes that helps the sport. Win/Win.

hud Says, in 12-4-2009 at 22:55:18 from

It’s not fake guys.

I produce and edit on the show and that punk is really getting his ass kicked.

He may have been on another reality show, he may even have snuck it by us that he has mma training, but these guys are all douchebags and they all can’t believe how it feels to get beat around, for once.

If the victims embellish how bad they’ve gotten picked on, we let it roll, but that’s about as close to ‘fake’ as it gets.

Season 3 is in the pipeline… less crying by the victims, bigger name fighter… and maybe even an mma co-host.

SnowCrash7 Says, in 12-13-2009 at 15:57:57 from

So we are supposed to believe that the bullies….for the most part overweight idiots with zero striking skills are professional stuntmen with MMA training? Yeah OK.There has been ONE bully, the hockey player who COULD punch…remember his pro opponent took a standing 8 count..before laying him out with a head kick…that might have fit into this category….but I don’t buy that most of this was fake.
There have already been several interesting articles and interviews with the bullies in the dressing room after the fight. They discussed the many different ways they dealt with their asskicking.

The worst thing I evr heard was when someone said Kim Kardashian was a celebrity. WHY? Because some no name blak dude who has a famous sister through his nut all over her face while taping it? Of course they’re actors. They all look decent, face-wise. Hardly ever a pimple or blemish or crooked teeth or wimpy jaw. I wouldn’t be surprised if the “victims” were actors too.

Kickboxman Says, in 7-13-2010 at 16:49:35 from

thanks alot for ruining the illusion, loved the show. But let it be said, you are all smallminded, this show could very well be real, a part of me still thinks it is. You are all making judgements out of small details “the fat bully accepted the fight right away” etc.. Try being a bit less skeptical and try watch the show as a whole.. Then you`ll see if its real.

I just have to say, That yeah I was like mayhem. i got picked on because of how tall I was and at the same time how skinny I was, I you think this show is fake then watch one of the episodes from seasonn 2 when the bully received a round house kick to the head. You could see the entire time that the fighter wanted to kill the bully. This is something that only a victom of bullies would ever see.

nci Says, in 12-16-2010 at 23:51:16 from

I’m relieved to know it is staged. I don’t think pro mma fighters would find any real sport in fighting someone with no training, no matter how obnoxious they are. Just being hams and doing something on the side for a little extra income. The apologies at the end are kind of lame, but I don’t have any suggestions. One part that isn’t fake is that nobody likes being bullied. The show has probably prevented a few homicides in the real world.

mnine2009 Says, in 12-20-2010 at 00:50:08 from

Kuri Says, in 11-1-2011 at 01:59:57 from

Bleating about a shortage of truth in a Pay TV show is like whining about a lack of sincerity to a hooker.

“Reality TV” itself is an oxymoron.

The whole point of TV is that it isn’t real. Real life is fun, has some funny moments and the rest but in between those moments most of life – even for Mayhem Miller – is pretty damn boringly repetitive.

TTgirl (a.k.a. Gullible1) Says, in 12-8-2011 at 22:12:00 from

I am pretty clueless about all the reality shows on TV…. Most likely because I live in reality and don’t need to get mine from watching stupid people live out fake lives.

I will readily admit to being faked out by Bully Beatdown, which was a great concept even if it was a sham in its execution, and by Mayhem, who now has lost this girl’s respect. So much for thinking someone in today’s media world could be worth looking up to.

@Mute: Your comment relating the gender of MTV’s CEO to the station’s ethics irenders you at the same time nescient and idiotic!

TTgirl (a.k.a. Gullible1) Says, in 12-8-2011 at 22:24:13 from

@Mute, Part 2: The fact that you may have had experience with a female who had no ethics does not, in fact, inculpate into that category all of the female gendered people in the world (though admittedly many of both genders fit). :-)

@Jon Dough: *applause* Too bad politicians in our nation’s cities won’t take that suggestion and truly implement it! There must be a better way than the results (or lack thereof) produced by what we are currently doing….

@Driez: ROFL!!!

David Weiss Says, in 12-25-2011 at 09:04:16 from

Mama Hen Says, in 1-21-2012 at 10:16:30 from

Just like pro wrestling is fake, but the fans still love it! I think if this show can make some real bullies out there think twice then good for them. Just because it isn’t “real” doesnt mean its not a good show. Its got a good message and I still love watching regardless.

Napitenkah Says, in 3-7-2012 at 03:36:25 from

It was pretty obvious after watching a few episodes on Youtube, that bully beatdown had a contrived format, and the ‘bully pre-interview’ by Jason Miller was one of the biggest giveaways, as it was designed to be comical.
Afterwards I found out some more information on how it works. But I didn’t need that, I just had to watch the show. So I am kind of surprised that people that watched it, it would take an article like this, before they consider it was not all real. I had discussions with people that would still not believe it was anything but completely real as presented.
The part that is real, is the ‘bully actors’ are paid to get beat up, by real MMA fighters.

Steve Says, in 5-15-2012 at 17:05:25 from

Part of the reason it was believable is the format. Obviously most people are not going to have the cardio to fight 5 minutes after grappling for 5 minutes. So it made sense to set it up like that making it even less likely a street-fighter or bully would ever get the “W”. There were even two fights where the MMA fighter got rocked and had to resort to an illegal head kick to win and another where a pretty big guy went the distance. I still think the fights themselves may not have scripted, just from how they look and the two fights I just mentioned.

But the first thing that made me think some of the history was staged was the “victims” saying the bully broke bones or caused permanent damage and then the bully proudly admitting t. Lawsuit over and done with right there, if not criminal charges as well if real. Also while I am sure there are plenty of really stupid bullies that also have nicknames for themselves, seemingly just about every bully couldn’t finish a complete sentence or had some stupid twist like a nickname or bizarre bully philosophy which seemed to be just to make them even less likable.

Could I still believe things were exaggerated but the fights totally real? Absolutely. Would it shock me to find out it was all fake? No. It was still entertaining though

sabensracing Says, in 9-19-2012 at 13:32:45 from
