Someone please smack the stupid out of that interviewer. “Pretty cool that you get to fight somebody that you grew up a fan of”. Overeem was fighting LONG before Brock ever was come on. Class act for not calling out that stupid comment and just rolling with it.

Really looking forward to this one. It’ll be good to see what Lesnar’s physical shape is coming into this and how (if at all) he’s developed his game. I’m also really looking forward to seeing how Overeem handles a wrestler as powerful as Lesnar and if he can exhibit the striking we saw in K-1 while defending takedowns instead of the lackluster performance he showed beating Werdum.

Easier said than done Overreem. No one in the UFC has stopped Brock’s takedown and they had wrestling backgrounds. The question is can you get up the because you will get taken down. Unlike previous fights any kick or knee you throw opens wide the door for that monster to put you on your back. It will take a lot better cardiovascular from Overreem than we’ve seen in the past to get up with Brock in top control.

Lesnar has been a Heavyweight Wrestler for years and an NCAA Champion. The context was not exclusive to MMA. Not giving him credit for that would be like not giving Allistar credit for K-1.
Also… ESPN had better start hiring some people that know MMA. This douche didn’t know crap and was just going off some scripted questions. Keep ball washing boxing ESPN and you will get ignored by the fasted growing sport in the world.

Overeem said he was a fan not that he grew up idolizing the guy. He’s only a couple years younger than Brock and pretty damn sure he wasn’t a starry eyed kid in England and Holland following the collegiate wrestling career of some unknown dude in the States.
