was a niiice fight, and yeah, these guys do have potential… but they have shitty stamina, little to no ground game, and based an entire fight on punching, except for the few punchs and knees that cantwell threw. Fighters with potential, definitely…. but champions? Nawww dood… naww.

They both have great hands. Stann was gassed though and I think that made the difference. Stann will be back.

This was the worst championship fight I have watched in any organization sice the Doug Marshal vs Stann match. I guess it is slim pickings when a 6-0 guy faces a 5-1 guy for the championship. Both of these guys are new to the sport and displayed their “minor league” display in that match.

You guys do know that Cantwell is only 21 and has a lot to learn in the MMA game right? He’s a pup. For anyone to disregard him as a fighter is stupid. He came in and defeated a fighter who beat him before. I’m not saying he’s the best or anywhere near that but he’s not as bad as anyone is trying to make him be. Stop hating and just enjoy the fact that his stand up is better then Brian Stann’s right hand

actually the guy that won was very technical.. he was throwing elbows hooks, crosses, uppercuts and all kinds of different kicks… the fact he was takin shots and could still throw multi-level shots to keep Stann guessin was great.. he really didnt need a ground game for this one… although he tried to take Stann down and couldnt do it.. so he definately needs some work.. there stamina is fine.. there just fighting tough opponents and took some good shots… they can always do better but they prepared adiquately for the fight.. hind-sight is 20-20

This is reminiscent of old IFC fights where nobody knew there was such a thing as cardio. I’ve never seen someone collapse from gassing in MMA. They usually just tell the ref to stop the fight. I guess war does not prepare you for everything.

Cantwell had an obvious edge in the stand up, I’d say Cantwell has better potential but Stann had the better market ability with a great story. They both need better cardio.

Stann is a good fighter with a lot of potential, but he is way overrated by the WEC.

They both need better cardio.

People don’t seem to realise that when you are tense you will use up your “gas” alot faster than if your relaxed when fighting,thats why guys like fedor etc have fantastic stamina in the ring.Both these guys are young and have little experience so understandably they were tense and used up alot of gas throwing bombs in the first round.Give them a year or two and several more fights and there cardio in the ring will improve without their overall fitness changing at all.

Two humble fighters that deserve respect for not only getting in the ring but for being good sports and gracious to thier opponent.
