Kicks are my favorite. If they can allow elbows in pride which can cause KOS and vicious cuts, why can’t they allow kicks and knees on the ground?

Elbows were not allowed in PRIDE. Kicks and knees were allowed. In the UFC it’s the opposite.

Yeah Rick, Yo has it right, soccer kicks were all good in pride, no elbows though. Renato fought Fedor in Rings somewhere around this time period and gave him one hell of a fight. He was a damn good fighter back in the day.

i agree with shoes above: either kohler was out before the kick or he has the reaction time of a sloth.
to kick someone who is down , especially to the head, is very dangerous as weel as cowardly.

it’s a fight, it’s a legal move, and if you don’t want to do a move that could potentially give you a win, then you’re not gonna make it big in the sport.

Not allowing knees and kicks to a downed opponent takes away an advantage to a lot of strikers and gives it to wrestlers and ground fighters. I love valetudo rules.

I agree with JustaTRUEfan regarding the advantage/disadvantages.

Personally, I would like to see knees but no kicks or elbows. Kicks are too vicious. Elbows irritate me in the sense that there are lots of fighters (caucasian wrestlers) that simply get the opponent down to the ground and elbow the hell out of you for a cut victory. Cutting your opponent is an easy victory in the UFC. Back in PRIDE bleeding fighters would still fight unless it affected their motor skills.

soccer kicks, stomps & 4point attacks are part of fighting and should be permitted. Elbows on the ground on the other hand seldom produce KO’s, all you get are bad cuts.
