I think Sobral looked very lazy in this fight. He clearly knew Southworth wasn’t anything compared to who he has fought before. The commentating was saying that Southworth just does the Tim Sylvia thing where he just tries to hold onto the belt rather than win fights and nothing in the fight seemed to show he was going to do anything else. I think the cut spared us a long dull fight, but if Sobral thinks he deserves to have a title, even that one, he’s mistaken. He should of handled Southworth. A good elbow doesn’t make up for all the hugging these guys did. The only highlight was seeing Big John in action again.

Awesome to see Big John back Sucks to see a fight end on a cut, sure there’ll be a rematch. Personally don’t like either fighter at all, but at least the boring fight ended early enough that people weren’t subjected to a full fight of leghumping on the ground.
