I liked he came out ready to rumble though knowing he was probably short on time cuz of that cut. But Joe likes to work on the ground and BJ is just a machine on the ground and showed it. So figured BJ would take this one handily and he did.

Awesome work by BJ, you could tell he was at another level to Joe Daddy – both standing and especially on the ground. Credit to Joe though, he was game and has lots of potential and a big future.

Nice.. I often like seeing wrestlers beat BBJ, but sometimes its nice to see a BJJ show people how to contain a wrestler on his back… I laugh at how the UFC padded Stevenson’s record to make him look like a real contender. Crying? WTF!

Stevenson should have never been given this fight, this is Penn’s natural weight class, unfortunately there is no one in the LW division. I think Penn should go back up a WW, no one can challenge him in the LW, plus Penn is the only guy I can see beating GSP. Yes GSP beat Penn before, but that was a decision.

Poor Stevenson he should have come out alot more aggressive knowing bj’s power on the mat. Had he been as angry as he was in the 2nd round 2 start with it definately would have been alot more entertaining, because this was one sided.

don’t count sherk out though, the guy is a beast for his size and just about everybody that fights him gets easily taken down and put on their back for most of the fight, the guy is just that powerfull. The only way I see him getting submitted is if bj can really hurt him first which is pretty hard to do, i cant wait for this one!!

I’m not taking anything away from Stevenson. He has fought more than 40 times and he is a horse.

But BJ Penn… made him look like a weak little kid. Like an adult manhandling a child. My god, it goes to show just what classes of fighters there are out there. Most are good, they are competant and they have heart. Then you have the Fedors, the Noguerias, the Andersons, The Rampages and the BJ Penns… those guys are demigods walking the earth. Such a class of fighters who just completely outclass their contemporaries on every level.

That cut had a huge effect on the fight. I still feel BJ would have wooped him, but he would have had to work a little harder.
It will be intresting to see the affect non-juicing does to ones cardio. If Shrek maintaines at least 70% of his previous cardio and add 100% more skill to his game; he may have a chance to beat BJ.

Yeah MMA FANATIC, I really think Bj can beat GSP.. you have to remember he was out wrestling Hughes, not really using BJJ. Plus BJ is a way better striker than Hughes, and is more versatile on the ground. Hughes is like every other wrestler out there, they panic when they are on their backs.

When GSP fought Hughes he wasn’t worried about Hughes striking abilities, or his grappling abilities. When GSP fought Serra he knew he had a grappler, and thats why he stayed away from Serra and ended up getting caught with a punch.

Considering BJ is a better and stronger puncher than Serra, and better BJJ, I can see GSP having a really hard, time with BJ. I don’t see GSP taking the liberty to shoot when he wants to, like he did with Hughes.

But I guess I will be proven right when BJ steamrolls over Hughes and Serra on his way to face GSP for the WW belt.

Dirty I actually agree with you… Congrats on not bashing the US on a couple posts. Penn can definitely raise problems for GSP. When they first fought Penn was relying on his natural ability and skill and wasn’t in fighting shape. If Penn stays serious about his conditioning, he will damn near be unstoppable in LW and I wouldn’t put it past him to be able to do it in WW too.

BJ Penn was the first Non brazillian to win a world championship in the black belt division after only training Bjj for 3 years. His ground game is beyond compare, easily ne of the best in the world, not just the UFC.

His downfall has been his conditioning, and from what ive seen lately, wow. He is going to be a handful for anyone, anywhere the fight goes
