BJ Penn Talks About Nick Diaz And The UFC Forcing Fighters Into Scripted Interviews.
Weird…but I wish there was more info about the context…was BJ TOO passive during the interview? Did he not come off as exciting?
The issue to me (as is evident by recent post and UFCs) is as the sport gets bigger, there are more and more Meatheads who have NO understanding of combat, the sport, why fighters do what they do, etc.
When I train people I talk to them about strategy and to the new fighters I constantly have to tell them “This is not ‘Rock ‘em, Sock ‘em Robots’-OUT THINK your opponent and then execute your moves. I really do think there is more of this BS to come…ESPECIALLY with Fox in the mix…more stupid people watching will destroy the quality.
You are the bad guy BJ. You talked nothing but nonsense for the GSP fight- your going to “kill” him? then you whined about “greasegate”. Hope Diaz kicks the crap out of you.
Diaz and Penn are losers…always complaining and conspiracy theories.
They just wanted him to say his name to clarify who he is fighting because of all the switch ups to the line up.
They need drama to sell tickets…..what a bunch of horseshit
I don’t really know. If it’s really what happened? Is it some type of a policy or invention of the director? or camera man? I also think they had to have him say Diaz’s name in some context due to the changes caused by …. well, Diaz. Besides – he could have refused easily, and say “no, I’m not going to say this”, and nobody would do a damn thing, you know what I mean? because what, they would cancel the fight? Cut his pay? Tell him “BJ, you’re a bad boy”?
Bj seems half in the bag
First off BJ Penn is a class act, so show some respect turds. Second, even this revised fight sold out in one day so ticket sales are not needed.
The UFC always eggs the fighters on in interviews. Half of them show the fighters saying “he said that? oh well then I’m gonna….” Which is an obvious tactic, and should be. BJ just knows a dumb*ss like Nick will take that ish personal. No big news here.
Nick Diaz one of the most misunderstood guys in MMA? That may actually be true. At least I never understand anything he says.
Don’t be scared Homie!!!!!
he seemed more scared that he didnt want to get nick diaz upset or angry cuz it would just be more motivation for him to kick BJs ass
Enscribe, ticket sales are the smaller part of the total revenue share of a UFC event. PPV buys make up the vast majority of the money. Therefore, the hype and bs that goes into promoting the event is still essential.
I have always liked BJ, especially when they tried to villanize him against GSP. The guy is one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC ever. I do think he is trying to make more out of this than it is though, I’m going to beat Nick Diaz doesn’t exactly blow the roof off. I would like to know he wants to win the fight and expects to win. My only hope is that when they go to Fox it stays professional. Keep it classy guys
How old is this guy that if someone tells him to say something, he just says it and regrets it later? He’s not a f’ing rookie… what a complaining clown.
Why is say “I’m going to beat Diaz” more insulting that “I”m going to have my hand raised at the end of the fight”? It means the same thing.
He’s not being forced to say “I’m going to beat the CRAP out of Diaz”.
At the end of the day I hope BJ and Diaz both bring a damn hard fight, none of this holding back because they are pals bull s***. Saying Diaz’s name shouldn’t be a big issue, saying that you are going to kill Diaz IS A BIG ISSUE.
BJ kinda looks like a ninja turtle.
how is bj penn a class act?
They guy directing that shoot was trying to get as much good coverage as possible so he doesn’t loose his job or gets to come back and do another one – simple as that
Bj Penn and Nick Diaz are the best fighters in the division.
This is going to be a good one! Bj oviously respects Diaz… and Diaz respects Bj….. buisness is buisness.
I’m a massive BJ fan (both of the fighter and the physical act itself, recieving only), he is one of my favourite fighters. But i think he has a bit of a screw loose. Sometimes he comes across like he’s been hit a few too many times. BJ vs. Diaz is going to be battle of the schizos. Can’t wait.
madona what are u smoking?
@dylan; BJ is a class act cos on sundays, he wears his sunday bests ! But ignore the world champ BJJ, X2 weight division guy who is passionate about his chosen arts, says openly whats on his mind, dumb ass cant get away with being open, honest & human huh ! He only rides pillion with M.Hughes to save money on the rising bus prices ! Now where’s my monacle ?
Huh. I’m not liking this passive approach. I wonder now if BJ is really getting up for this fight.
The previous match ups I think would make for a better fight. I was stunned when Dana changed it up over a press conference. Don’t screw the fans, screw the fighter and fine Diaz for it.
Diaz can negate BJ’s incredible ground game. Diaz has the reach on him in the stand up. This is not a good fight for BJ.
the two best FIGHTERS the sport has ever seen are about to throw down…. we should all be happy diaz missed the beauty pageant
Do you comprehend the implications of what BJ said about UFC.
What is the point of listening to any of the fighters, since they are all being programmed what to say and do?
I thought Rumble World Entertainment which is run by JD Penn do all the UFC Countdown filming and editing..lol That be funny if his own brother told him to say all of that! btw Haters got stop hating on BJ for saying he was going to kill GSP, that was a while ago, IDK if you have not notice, But BJ has been really humble and respectful going into his last fight with Matt Hughes till now. I believe its because he lost his Lightweight belt to Frankie and he just wants to do good and be the best BJ he can be fighting for the UFC!
Brah you people need to get a life!
BJ appears to be intimidated by the event he is about to encounter! Put aside being a critic for a moment and understand that Nick is the ultimate test for just about any fighter in his division! Nick Diaz is no Cakewalk, he can hurt you early if you decide to stand and trade with him and his BJJ is on a level not unlike BJ’s this will be a Damn good fight
“i’m sure 90% of you UFC fans mostly male want to have sex with Dana white!”
they have no mind of there own just what the the UFC tells them! if the UFC says it’s good…then it must be good! god i hate sheep!
I always assumed it was in their contract to trash talk and make those promos. Most of them look fake and scripted and badly acted. My FAVORITE aspect so far of the Strikeforce GP was that there was little to none trash talk. The fighters were all very respectful to one another.
you gotta say the dude’s name because otherwise people might think its a re-used promo video for the other fight.
Yeesh.
@Lodovik: brilliant!
@morbidcro: yup!
bj called gsp a quitter, then gsp turned penn into a quitter, so hahaha bj penn who is the quitter now, diaz is a great fighter but the dumbest person, in the sport
hating on bj haha funny s***. he called gsp a quitter because gsp does seem like he quits once he’s ahead on the score card he does enough to win, not finish. gsp had atleast 20-30 pounds on bj so yeah when he was basically knocked out his corner threw the towel, atleast he has the balls to fight up. plus there are videos of gsp’s trainer rubbing grease on him plus other fighters say he was “extra slippery” in their fights with him, you dumbasses just don’t believe the guy the ufc hates
and LOL to the people who think he’s scared to take this fight. he fought REAL fighters matt hughes when he was the most dominating fighter in mma, gsp, pulver, machida, fitch and you think he’s scared to fight diaz?
