Big John McCarthy explains the rules before a MMA fight better than anyone I have ever heard before. All referees should be required to attend Big John’s school before they are allowed to enter a cage.

The way Big John explained the moves in so many details that it seems like Shamrock was actually learning a few new moves. Especially the knees part.

I completely agree Bruno. Many of these referees are not ready to even ref mma. One example out of many was standing Roy Nelson up when he had full mount on Arlovski. Arlovskis my boy but come on some of these guys are ridiculous.

really informative and interesting. Good to see that refs (or at least John McCarthy) basically operate with intent to give the fighters a good fair chance at winning, and the fans what they want to see. Not usually how they’re perceived.

UFC PUTS MAJORITY OF $$ INTO ADVERTISING / FIGHTER SAlary…there not worried bout the refs to much..as long as u know the rules…but that ref who did the cro-cop al-turk fight..should be fired..a grown man isnt bending over holding his eye because the punch hurt…i knew even be4 the replay…u can plainly see it was an eye poke…al-turk did pretty much everything except scream “”"HE POKED ME IN THE EYE”"” lol woulda been funny

herb dean is the best ref in ufc……ppl say he has controversial stoppages but…hes definitley the best in ufc now that big john is in STRIKEFORCE
