Did he fight Fedor? No. Bas was before Fedor.

Will he fight Anderson? No. Bas for the most part is a commentator and trainer these days.

He said something along the lines of “I miss the fighting, but I don’t miss the aches pains and injuries that are part of it, especially at my age”

I’m pretty sure that Black Gerbil only recently got interested in MMA after Spike started showing UFC.

Bas beat some good fighters in his heyday like Frank Shamrock and Kevin Randleman. I think he was a UFC champ at one point too. Like Mute said, he’s better known now as a commentator and a trainer. He trains Kimbo Slice now. Apparently he also trains Kevin James, the actor from King of Queens.

I was playing GTA IV the other day and I heard Bas Rutten talking on the radio IN THE GAME!!

anyway, does this move just cause pain or can it actually damage your opponent? like if they don’t tap will something brake (like with an arm bar)?

Dude Bas Rutten was a pioneer of this sport and back then was considered one of the top guys. I think he was UFC champ too until an injury happened or something. Nowadays he does commentary for MMA.

bas was ufc champ winning over kevin randlman, it went to decision and was questionable, randleman took bas down at will but bas was busy from his back but couldent keep it on the feet. this was at heavywieght and he never defended the title and moved to middleweight. but bas is a ledgend, no doubt about it. he is a mma staple in the sport.

wow, i’m baffled @ the number of people who have no clue who El Guapo is. Any true MMA fan knows who Bas Rutten is, he is one of the greatest fighters of all time, as well as one of the best trainers. Not to mention he’s the coolest and nicest guy in the known universe.

Randleman was Bas’s last fight before he retired and Fedor went pro afterwards.

Thanks principal I never knew that. I used to watch cage fighting as a kid back when there was only one round fights. But I didn’t know about pride when bas was there. I found out about him later.

Bas is the man. Best commentator in any sport, IMO, and one of the all time greatest fighters.

Did anybody see his fight in 2006? He fought a nobody, but he looked really impressive, actually messing up the guy’s leg with kicks so bad that he couldn’t stand on it anymore. I wish he’d make another comeback.
