Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Frank Mir Fight Video UFC 92

Big Nog all the way, hopes he wins.

Nog had no answers for the powerful right uppercut off the front leg. Mir kept his chin down, shrugging off punches with his arms while pounding with fierce combinations, only landing one or two punches consistently, but enough to sap Nog eventually. Nog felt comfortable absorbing punishment and not going for takedowns, a risky gambit that did not pay off. I would have liked to see him try for a top ground position, which could have steered the fight his way. Good fight to watch!

Damn, my boy lost it was a good fight though. Hopefully, they fight again.

Big Nog finally got old this fight.He looked very slow ;I think the battles in the past have caught up with him ( and Wanderlei).It would be nice if it were just a random bad night but I doubt it.He seems like a good guy; he should quit now.

The punishment he took during his fighting carrier has finally caught up to Nog. He looked slow, he didn’t circle when avoiding punches and his punches weren’t crisp. I’m glad Frank won and now for the rematch between him and Broc.

It’s always funny to hear the haters change their tune when their prediction goes up in smoke. Before the fight, all you heard was “Mir has no chance….he’s gonna gas…his stand-up sucks.” Now that he won, it’s “Nog is overrated…he’s washed up.” I said going in anything can happen.

ok dont just write off nog because of one bad fight lol. thats what i hate about MMA, until a fighter gets too old, one loss isnt the end of the world.

Mir looked more hungry than he has since the old days–pre-wreck. It looked to me like he finally got a good boxing coach. I thought Big Nog would dominate this fight–but he did look old and tired as others have said. I would still pick Lesnar over Mir–Lesnar’s striking is underrated and I doubt he’ll get caught by a foot-lock again.

Well it’s time to give credit to Mir, it was a great performance against a great fighter. Big Nog finally does look like the past wars have caught up to him though.

You also have to expect that there was a ref out there that will stop a fight when he’s down and out. I have no doubt in my mind that he would have survived that round if let to go on, that’s the punishment he’s proven he can take, but Nog’s been lucky also that other refs haven’t stopped fights sooner.

If you watch the first Fedor fight from years past, no ref on earth would allow another fighter to take the beating he took that night.

Nevertheless I wish Mir luck and I hope he beats Brock, as that title belongs in the hands of a real martial artist.

Horrible fight! Mir did everything right, but Minotauro is fat, slow and weak. Seems like he didn’t even tried to train for this fight. Ridiculous!
Congrats to Mir and I hope he beats that fat, overinjected, underprepared Lesnar.

Opinions are like assholes…everybody’s got one… so mine is that Mir whac-cracked that ass!!! That may be why it looked unimpressive because it was made so easy for Mir by Nogueira’s slow-footed, slow-handed plodding attack. Swinging from the other side, as in left handed, probably confused Minotauro even more because you could see he was lost when it came to countering anything Frank threw at him. That up-hook/jab from the right side paralyzed him so when he finished him off with consecutive up-hooks from the left side even Nogueira’s rock-hard chin couldn’t keep his brain from banging against the inside of his skull so he fainted like a damsel in distress. Respect to the legend though!!! He’s a hall of famer. Brock should make sure his ground game and submission defense is as good as humanly possible for him. He won’t be fighting an old man past his prime and it sure ain’t the WWE. Lesnar’s just Kimbo-light with enhanced moves anyway.

I knew Frank would use hands. I remember watching Nog and Bader on the show and he was lighting Nog up. His camp must have noticed also.

I was shocked and as much as I dislike him..Mir dominated the fight. While he can definitely beat brock, I think brock can definitely beat him also. I can easily see brock ripping his head off or ground and pounding Mir like evans did Forrest.

When Mir shouted at Brock “you’ve got my belt that’s my belt” Brock was smiling at first but then his expression turned a little twitchy. He knows first-hand that there’s no room for any mistakes against Mir’s submission game – an what with Mir’s stand-up looking so good I think Brocks really got to re-think his strategy – but there’s still no doubt in my mind that he’s deffinitly the stronger guy.
It’s going to be a cool re-match!

Mir fought the perfect fight (See; Buster Douglas vs. Tyson) and he deserved to win, his hands were fast and his combos were both accurate and damaging. He continually landed the hard upper cut and the left hook to the skull. Nog could not believe tat Mir was standing with him, he never adjusted and he got levelled, he is a boring fighter anyway. If Nog and Cro Cop can go the distance with Fedor, thn I am sure Mir will kick his fat, undersized heavyweight ass. Put that prediction in the bank and look for interest… beats investing in Madoff.

I will be honest, i expected nog to win just like everyone else but at the same time i wouldnt of been suprised if Mir won. I never expected Mir to win this easy. Like usual, Nog took some big blows in the fight except this time he was stopped. Nog looked confused like he didnt know what to do. I dont think he expected Mir’s striking to be this good. All the credit goes to Mir in this fight. Cant wait for Mir-Lesnar 2.

Nogueira is calm, has self-control, extremely durable, strong, improved his boxing and is arguably the best in the world on the floor.
Put Mir X SAAP to see what happens. SAAP destroys Mir!

sad day but great for Mir! unfortunately it’s a combo of things that can lead to this; Nog’s career has been the toughest of all, his reflexes looked unresponsive, compare him to the fighter he was in 04-vast difference. He was much more active in Pride vs ufc and the relocation to the US; the opening of the schools, the new training partners. Everything was much more functional and tightly run when Brazilian Top Team and Chute Boxe were operating out of Brazil! Credit to Mir though.

Lets be respectful of Minotauro, the 2nd best heavyweight in this sport “thusfar” and the greatest no-time limit fighter so far!

nog tried to take it on the chin like previous fights and ended up on the wrong side, it happens. Mir had a great game plan, he has enough experience in bjj to not get submitted by nog and showed he was a much better striker (at least the night of the ppv)

mir was dominating and it didnt seem likely that nog would have turned it around but, i sense herbavore stopped it too early- why i wonder?

what mir did he did very well but nog shouldnt have kept the same strategy up for so long. he got picked apart by sylvia for longer than he needed to also.

Whew, man that is the worst I have see Nogierra…ever pretty much. That is really too bad. It’s hard to say how good Mir looked since he really didn’t have to do much. I love the comment “you have my belt!” Lesnar doesn’t have what it takes to deal with the jiu jitsu of either one of these guys, period. No, he won’t make the same mistake again. He’ll make a different one.

Mir is ok but he is very slow, he cannot hold onto a title (or get one) with that slow ass shit. Nice upset though it was very entertaining.

Well, I wasn’t hating on Mir at all coming in to this one, but I will admit I kinda figured Nogueira would find a way to pull it out. Mir really surprised me here. That being said Mir is gonna have to tighten his game up a little if he expects to beat Lesnar again. Brock smelled blood, went for the finish and got his leg trapped. He won’t make that mistake again. Mir is in for a battle if he wants that belt back. It’s gonna take speed, power and smarts. I’m not hating on Big Nog here, the dude has seen some wars, but man, he really looked bad here. Everytime he got his chin tapped he just fell on his ass. Looked slow and kind of out of it. Don’t mean to parrot what everyone else is saying but it really does look like the abuse has caught up with him.

If mir is smart (and he is), he will put brock on his back. If he is able to do that, he will submit the meat-head. And BTW, stop making excuses for Nog. Mir beat him to the punch and came to that fight with vastly improved standup. Nog dint know what to do.

Mir Looked great and he has one of the most dangerous ground games. but i think when he meets brock lesnor again he will lose badly. brock lesnor is a beast is only weaknest is the ground but mir woke him up to what he has to do by beating him the first time with a submission. brock will he’s a true champ and address his weakness and be ready to dominate Mir the next time around. Mark my words brock will reign as champ for a while get ready for a long ride.

Frank is not the comeback fighter of the year in my book, that honor goes to Allistair Overeem. Frank’s victories are questionable:

Lesnar: He was getting the shit kicked out of him until the rookie mistake.

Big Nog: Yeah, I’m sure its easy to beat a legend when Nog had a staph infection.

frank mir is good but you have to be an idiot to think he can even last 30 seconds with fedor
