This is the fight that got me into MMA. I have watched this fight over a dozen times and I still enjoy it.

Big Nog has two wins in the UFC against guys that aren’t very intelligent fighters. He gets pounded on his feat and then he capatalizes on fighter mistakes. Mir will not make those mistakes and although he doesn’t possess great standup himself, Mir’s is better than Nogs. Not sure who will win, but it won’t be a walk for Nog

I know i’m gonna hear alot of stuff for this but i think Randy is gonna beat lesnar and Mir is gonna beat Nog. Nog is great .. dont get me wrong but Mir is not an idiot. i think he knows how to expliot Nog’s weaknesses even tho Nog is a tank.

Angerysig- If you think Mir has better standup than Big Nog, then i am sorry my friend but you should watch and learn more MMA. Nog has probably the most crisp boxing in the UFC HW division. Also, he’s only gotten beat up bad in 4 out his 37 fights and two were from fedor. It’s a crazy myth that people, who have only seen those fights, have built.

Nog has beaten Mirko on his prime, Coleman, Sergei on his prime, Heath on his prime, Barnett, etc…
Mir has beaten… Tim (also has nog) and who else…? I’m talking high caliber fighters…
Mir doesn’t have a good standing game, doesn’t any gas after 3 minutes, his JiuJitsu can’t be compared to Nog’s…. he just talks

Nog’s boxing crisp? His standup sucks. He got dropped by Herring. Beaten up in 4 fights??? Let’s see…. Sylvia dropped him bad, so did Herring, Fedor twice, Mirko had him in trouble, Sapp beat him up here, Henderson dropped him in their first fight & TK had him in trouble in their draw in 2000. That’s 8 beatings he’s taken….not 4 chief Momo.

Since when does getting dropped mean you didn’t dominate every round. Henderson in King of Kings was a bs majority draw loss where hendo got dominated on the ground. Herring besides that one kick didn’t offer anything in that fight. TK-are you kidding me. Yea jackson, get real. Fedor, Sapp, Cro Cop and Sylvia -that’s 4.

inarguably 1 of the greatest fights in MMA, one could even argue the greatest. Awesome show of heart by Big Nog that slam in the beginning was the most dangerous in the sport, considering the size, weight and power behind Sapp.

Yeah gettin dropped once doesn’t mean you suck at striking. I’d say someone like Aoki has bad standup, but not Big Nog.

fact is Big Nog’s been many wars; his stand up is deceptively very technical, thanks in part to the work he’s done with Brazilian/Cuban boxing teams. Not the most explosive of punchers but can punch none the less(ask Werdum). Who’s sparred with CC and is on record as saying “he punches harder than Crocop.”

In his ufc days big nog (as you people in the U.S call him)is way slower than on his pride days. Lookin at big nog in the tim sylvia and heath hearing fights and then looking on any fight fight on pride its very easy to realize that.
He has great stand up only lacks agressiveness IMO.
