Anderson Silva Will Defend Belt Against Chris Weidman At UFC 162

anderson-silva-chris-weidmanLong Island Newsday reporter Mark La Monica on Wednesday reported that UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta on Wednesday told Weidman that Silva had finally agreed to fight him on the promotion’s planned UFC 162 fight card on July 6. Also confirmed by mmafighting.com’s Ariel Helwani.


Silva’s camp initially didn’t want a fight with Weidman, but with the superfights out of the picture, at least momentarily, and Bisping dropping back down the ladder, the fight with Weidman makes the most sense.

Thiago Silva vs. Rafael ‘Feijao’ Cavalcante is also expected for UFC 162.

Weidman’s a joke. His best win was over a fat broken footed Munoz, who is slow and had to LNP the even slower Chris Leben in the bout prior.

Once Silva stuffs weidman or gets back to his feet, it’ll be another one for the books. Ill gamble and say Silva by Spinning Elbow KO or Body Knee KO

after watching weidman vs maia, i think weidman is going to get ktfo. i don’t see any traits in weidman that would give me a sliver of hope that silva won’t discard him in his garbage disposal.

Weidman may be a stylistic nightmare for Silva, even though Silva’s takedown defense developed tremendously for the second Sonnen fight. Silva’s one of my favorite fighters, but this one should be a great fight. Weidman’s wrestling n gnp is awesome.

Guys please check Weidman’s resume, he hasn’t fight ANY big name yet. He surely shows talent&potential, yet he is very far a way from being a threat to Silva, and he doesn’t deserve a title fight yet WHATSOEVER.

Weidman is one of the only top MWs that Silva has not already beat up. This fight makes sense. Given Weidman’s display against Munoz, there are fans who think he might do the same thing to Silva; take him down and beat him up. It might happen, but I’m inclined to expect more of the Silva magic….Perhaps some crazy spinning flying reverse double heel kick to the sterum and finishing him with some never before seen submission that will baffle the Gracies worldwide. Actually, I think Weidman has more than a chance. What are the betting odds?
