Anderson Silva Offered To Take A Fight To Save UFC 151

UFC president Dana White stated that, Anderson Silva relayed a message through his manager Ed Soares just minutes after White announced on Thursday that UFC 151 was canceled after Jon Jones turned down a fight against Chael Sonnen.

By way of Ariel Helwani – “The middleweight champion, who admitted he wasn’t in the best shape, volunteered to fight on eight days’ notice in Las Vegas against another light heavyweight fighter. Unfortunately, he was a few hours late as the promotion had already decided to scrap the event. White said he never expected Silva to offer his services and appreciated the offer.”

Jones is NOT the best fighter – He just is very fortunate for 2 reasons:

1. His arms are long … he hits you and you are far away.

2. He’s super tall – hard to get close to his chin.

3. His legs are long – so he can kick you and get points while you’re finding your distance.

4. His wrestling is good and his elbows are good — that’s it. The dude is hardly the best fighter. He’s a very good fighter, but not the best. Just got lucky with his height, reach, and thin body to make that weight class.

John Jones techniques:

1. Kick from a distance for points – not much damage done, but gets up on the score cards.

2. Run from attacks.

3. Tie up opponent and tire him out. Bust some elbows on him near the cage and back off.

4. Repeat the above steps until your opponent is word down and behind on the score cards.

5. Take him down. Elbow ground and pound or Choke.

Dana’s rant yesterday proves once and for all that he doesn’t give a s*** about the fighters and only about himself, his business and his money. Mark my words, this UFC monopoly will kill this sport and boxing will still be around. When there’s a title fight in boxing and one of the fighters gets hurt, the fight is canceled and rescheduled every single time, unless it’s a low level fighter that’s coming up. Title fights are rescheduled and no other fighter gets thrown into the mix at the lasts second. Dana White is a joke. Sick of that guy. Jones vs Belfort!?! Hahaha joke.

@MGMA the fight was already canceled and they couldnt rebook the venue for the fight plus all the other stuff canceled they just didnt have time to get everything eles in order for this. that sucks to but after 200 events one cancelation really isnt that bad concidering boxing and kickboxing shows cancel lots of times

The UFC offered Fedor more money than nay other fighter has ever gotten. M-1 turned it down because they insisted on co-promoting the fights, which the UFC wasn’t going to do. M-1 ducked the UFC on Fedor’s behalf.
