Silva finally faces his equal in Hendo. I think Silva is one of the most exciting and talented fighters in MMA but Hendo is a bad match-up for him.
Hendo has seen the clinch and come out the other side. This will be a great fight.

The only reason GSP beat BJ Penn was becuz of the lack of conditioning on Penn’s part…Penn was absolutely owning GSP until he ran outta gas, and even then I think it ended up in a decision? Anyway, now that Penn is finally working on conditioning (i.e. taking fighting seriously), I would say he’s top on my list of best pound 4 pound, followed by GSP, and then Anderson Silva.

Have to point out that an eye poke blinded GSP, then a grazing uppercut barely clipped and broke his nose, causing him to lose the first round. The 2nd two were easily his, despite the early unluckiness. In a rematch, you’d have to like GSP again, based on his size and power combined with a wrestling game that is Olympic level. BJ would spend the fight on his back.

i think gsp gives anderson i run for his money for p4p, but imho fedor is the p4p. when u can consistently beat talented fighters at ur weight class whether big, small, or gargantuan that is the real defenition of p4p.

He is the real deal, and I don’t know why you all are talking about him fighting gsp, he doesn’t have any weight to lose. Plus why would he drop when he is destroying everyone in his weight class. If he beats Hendo there is really not much competition left for him in that weight class.

Anderson Silva is not small (he does have long limbs which makes him appear lanky). It appears so on TV because everyone he fights works out with weights. I have met Anderson and he was way bigger than I expected. He does resistance training more so than weights. i.e. why he is so quick. If he lifted weights he would LOOK just as big as Franklin, Marquardt, and so on but would loose his edge on quickness. IMO GSP could not stand with Anderson, and Anderson wouldn’t be like Hughes if GSP took him down. Silva has an extremely underrated ground game. Silva has Hendo on the feet, especially since Hendo throws loopy punches. The only edge Hendo has is takedowns. WTF is he going to do after that, he’s not known for his GnP though he is decent at it. Silva has the edge on the feet and on the ground. Unless Hendo became a submission master since his lost to Rampage.

GSP lost to Serra for fucks sake! How can he be classed as best pound for pound? On the other hand Fedor does have a claim as he’s just unbelievable. But for me its the spider, so relaxed and the angles that he throws his punches and kicks from are just amazing.

Heres the deal. Henderson is a HUGE 185 pound fighter who also fights at 205. Silva is a SMALL 185 pounds and could probably drop to 170 if he wanted. Henderson is franklins size with twice the skill. The size advantage will be too much to overcome.

Anderson Silva is a phenomenal fighter, I’m totally pumped for this fight on Saturday.
Here’s some food for thought, Henderson is a top notch fighter with with wins against some pretty tough customers. He has gone the distance recently in a five round war with Quinton Jackson. Anderson Silva on the other hand hasn’t been past the second round since 2004.
I think Henderson is going to win this fight, he has chin of granite, dynamite in both hands and is a world class wrestler. I don’t see Silva ko’ing Henderson and that only plays into his game as they go deeper into the rounds. I call this a ko in the 4th round.
I love both of these guys and Silva is probably the most exciting guy to watch next to Fedor in my books. Regardless who wins this fight, I think MMA will be the big winner Saturday. This should be one of those great fights.

To me what defines the greatness of a fighter is who they’ve fought. On that note beating up on run of the mill fighters from Japan and Brazil, or nearly retired Americans doesn’t qualify for p4p, so Fedors out. Then youre left with Henderson, Anderson, BJ, and GSP. GSP is a huge welterweight and always gets a size advantage. Andersons record is decent, but i think hes just having a good run. He’ll lose soon. So for me its a toss up tween Hendo and BJ, both of whom have almost always been the small guy, and usually find a way to come out on top.

Ok time to put my foot in my mouth. Silva beat Henderson. Guess it’s time to just admit it, he’s truly amazing. Might as well stop hatin on Fedor too while im at it. I had really hoped to see him in UFC with the aquisition of PrideFC. Every time they say Dana has a big announcement i get all excited. Then he says Forest Griffin is coaching TUF this season or something to that effect. What a let down. Damnit Fedor where are you?
