It’s official as much as I hate to say but Pride was fixed

Dave Says, in 8-18-2013 at 00:13:11 from

I have to admit it was a bit of a early stoppage. Overeem was beating him up much worst and e reff didn’t stop it which most refs would. But for some reason he stopped it a bit earlier in case of Travis’s turn brating Overeem.

Noel Says, in 8-18-2013 at 00:14:25 from

I don’t know why but I like seeing Overeem lose. No PED’s. No jaw.

drewblood Says, in 8-18-2013 at 00:29:14 from

yes, I’m sure that’s the only possible explanation for Over-roid losing 2 in a row. No other factors involved at all.

Rob Says, in 8-18-2013 at 00:54:12 from

I don’t see either of these guys hanging with JDS or Velasquez

lefthooklarry Says, in 8-18-2013 at 00:59:06 from

Pride wasn’t fixed. It was the best “I look Great when I fight Cans” league. And when you get a whole bunch of people believing it, then you can say they had the greatest fighters in the world and the UFC was minor league.

Don’t get me wrong – the pride fighters all cleaned and dominated up the UFC when they came over – like….. like …….

You know what is funny – Over was waaay overrated – always has been. Has been taken out by two marginal fighters – KNOCKED out. Just think if he would fight Jr. or Cain – Over should thank Bigfoot and brown for saving him from a life long injury he would sustain in 2 minutes or less. Maybe he can fight Fedor. The other sham off MMA. His business decision was the best ever!

shuttheff Says, in 8-18-2013 at 01:13:16 from

Axe murderer shut the hell up please youre a moron. pride wasnt fixed they were all on roids you dike

GOD Says, in 8-18-2013 at 01:15:17 from

Pride had real rules. you could not use some lame ass rule to not being kicked or kneed on the ground. ridiculous rule

GOD Says, in 8-18-2013 at 01:15:35 from

worst cardio on the planet lost because of it

greengiant Says, in 8-18-2013 at 01:18:33 from

Relax pal. Overeem was very close to stopping brown. Overeem needs to realize his defense needs some work. If he didn’t take browns strikes so lightly he would have won.

MMAgiantsilva Says, in 8-18-2013 at 01:24:20 from

Axe Murderer you are stupid but I am having a hard time getting past this one the Reem had it and got wild.

MMAgiantsilva Says, in 8-18-2013 at 01:25:03 from

Props to Browne though that was a sweet front kick.

jonnyx Says, in 8-18-2013 at 01:32:31 from

again. overeem, hopefully he learns to respect the power of a lot of these big guys. He got lazy, and no head movement and got beat again…….ugh.

KungFuLowKick Says, in 8-18-2013 at 01:44:11 from

@Axe Murderer
What a stupid comment. Maybe the reason great fighters from Pride don’t perform that well anymore is because they are all over their prime. This was Alistair’s 50th MMA fight. 50!!! And he has 15 Kickboxing fights. He go knocked out over 15 times not counting his gym wars and the actual fights he had. Of course he will have a weaker chin. Alistair’s first fight in Pride was 11 years ago. Fighting is not Golf or baseball. You can’t do it until you’re 50. And even golfers and baseball players don’t perform until they are 50, and they only throw and hit a ball with a stick, they don’t get in wars with the best athletes in the world trying to knock you out.

KungFuLowKick Says, in 8-18-2013 at 01:49:14 from

Watch Fedor vs Randleman when Fedor almost gets his neck broken by a slam. Watch his fight with Fujita and tell me that fight is fake. Bob Sapp vs Nogueira where Nog also almost gets his neck broken by a slam. Watch Shogun kicking and stomping people’s head off. This is real. Yes some fights were absolutly fixed, but Pride wasn’t all fixed.

CaptainObvious Says, in 8-18-2013 at 03:25:36 from

OVER-ROID is OverDONE. I love to see hyped up cheaters fail. I was goin nuta when Browne kicked his head in. F*** YOU!

Doyle Brunson Says, in 8-18-2013 at 04:38:22 from

Man does Overeem ever lose in style. 2 loses in a row but both fights bar burners for the most part. I was rooting for Overrm to finish but dont mind this outcome. Awesome finish.

YODA Says, in 8-18-2013 at 07:15:45 from

^That makes no sense, overeem got knocked out a lot in pride also…

Danby Says, in 8-18-2013 at 08:53:11 from

Master segal strikes again!!!!

nybrownb Says, in 8-18-2013 at 09:21:57 from

reem is an average fighter without roids! He’s never had a chin and always had poor cardio even in the pride days he was always tired in the 1st rd ! he started juicing when he fought vitor the first time ! he needs to fight overseas where they don’t test!

Iconoclast Says, in 8-18-2013 at 09:30:53 from

Seemed like it may have been a bit of a quick stoppage to me. Not horrible, but a little quick imo.

Dan Says, in 8-18-2013 at 09:48:57 from

Those are stupid commits to say that pride was fixed, retarded in nature.

MMAgiantsilva Says, in 8-18-2013 at 10:13:38 from

Nybrownb I would start juicing if I fought Vitor too that guy is the poster child for juicing and what it can do for your career.

boonching Says, in 8-18-2013 at 10:36:16 from

pack yer s*** reem.

Tankless Says, in 8-18-2013 at 10:48:07 from

It was a perfect stoppage , Overeems been knocked out 8 bloody times , this being his 9th…he shouldn’t even be fighting. Liddell only 6
, he was meat on the gravel if the ref didn’t step in , Browne was bringing down the hammers and there’s no way Overeem would of came back from that.

Twana Says, in 8-18-2013 at 12:05:09 from

alistair now is officially in the same class as bob Sapp. lol.

Joe Dog Says, in 8-18-2013 at 12:50:06 from

Browne wins this fight because of his durability.
Overeem would have finished many lesser fighters. I’m starting to like Browne but can’t imagine him surviving Velasquez.

Champ Says, in 8-18-2013 at 13:01:45 from

In all fairness why is no one giving any credit to Travis Browne? Guys a total beast. 12ko, tough as nails…. Hes like 15-2 with 11ko.

paul Says, in 8-18-2013 at 14:00:53 from

Cardio, cardio, cardio. Good fight but Overeen never had a good cardio. And after stopping juicing he looks week.

nybrownb Says, in 8-18-2013 at 14:31:12 from

Hahahahaha! i would juice too fighting vitor i don’t see nothing wrong with everybody playing on a even field ! let them all use and see if that changes out come of all combat sports!

KungFuLowKick Says, in 8-18-2013 at 14:43:12 from

Overeem’s camp/manager don’t really have a great strategy for his cardio. The guy always had cardio issues. He always trains at sea level or below sea level. You should at least try to set up a camp in higher altitude. And it’s not hard to find somewhere with higher altitude. But again there’s ohter Dutch fighters who don’t have cardio problems so it might also be the 40 pounds of Horse meat muscles heput on that hinder him.

Dave Says, in 8-18-2013 at 14:56:45 from

Have you guys notice that Overeem doesn’t look as ripped and muscular as before? Clearly the roid juice is wearing off lol.

samoan brasileiro Says, in 8-18-2013 at 15:00:12 from

Give Hapa his props SAFADOS he endured it and this is the co-main event and if you don’t know Pride had 2 fights against two of the toughest fighters that day and I think they fought 10 minute rounds Pride was not fixed and Alistair OverExaggerated is still a dangerous fighter as u can see he almost won and Mario gave Hapa a chance to recover because he was still able to move , but Overrem got hit square in the face with two HammerFists without blocking that’s why he wasn’t freaking out when the ref stepped in he knew he was about to die lol

TsaGoii Says, in 8-18-2013 at 16:30:32 from

I believe it was a fair stoppage.
Browne is 6,7 almost 240lbs.
He had just delivered to serious hammer fist to Overeem face, and that without any slight attempt of even blocking it. A 3rd one was on its way when the ref stepped in.

Good stoppage.

You do not want to get hammer fist by Travis Browne. Especially if there are about to come in a bunch.

OscarMayhem Says, in 8-18-2013 at 17:56:59 from

Props to Browne for having tremendous heart. I’m glad that even though some of you can’t think a clearly due to the lack of oxygen from having Dana White’s nuts in your mouths, it won’t detract from Travis Browne’s performance. Pride was awesome. Both Overeem and Browne are scary dudes, and one got hit square in the jaw.

compcast Says, in 8-18-2013 at 20:21:46 from

look like a early stoppage to me good ole steve mazi

Mag Says, in 8-18-2013 at 21:23:13 from

lefthooklarry and Axe Muderer, don’t be stupid.

Pride was amazing at the time, but JUST LIKE THE UFC FIGHTERS OF THE SAME TIME (Chuck/Rich/Randy/Hughes/Sylvia/Arlovski, etc), they eventually will fall over and be overtaken. The UFC fighters now are the next generation of fighters coming through.

The Pride guys of the era (Shogun, Rampage, Hendo, Anderson Silva, Nog, Fedor, Barnett, etc) have more than proven themselves as good or better than the UFC counterparts of the same era. Many of the old guard came into the UFC just as battle worn and past their best as the UFC fighters were. Remember, overeem has had *50* MMA fights! Not to mention many many high level kickboxing fights.

All this talk of being ‘fixed’ or only fighting cans is complete nonsense and simply brand-whore cheerleading. It’s drinking the ‘team Zuffa’ koolaid without thinking. Time to grow up, kid.

Prides peak was was 7-8 years ago, let it go!

Schismzzz Says, in 8-19-2013 at 01:22:41 from

How do you compare these old pride fighters to new UFC fighters? People are so stupid. All these pride fighters outlived all the UFC fighters during the days Pride was still around, like Chuck liddell and tito ortiz. Guys like Shogun, Wanderlei, Alistair overeem, Anderson Silva, they all were in pride during the days of Chuck lidell, tito ortiz, Ken shamrock, Forest griffin, BJ Penn, Georges st pierre, rich franklin….. besides ST. Pierre, where’s the rest of them. Oh, the Pride guys whooped on them and outlived them. So to compare these guys of a different generation to these UFC fighters of a new generation is just a bunch of stupid people making unintelligent comments based on their “UFC the best in the world” f***** crap!

dankarelli Says, in 8-19-2013 at 01:32:13 from

It;s not rocket science. ‘Reem gasses VERY fast, and he has no chin.

what was travis browne talking about PHW? what does that mean PHW? enlighten me pls… thanks

LoneRonin Says, in 8-19-2013 at 11:07:45 from

For the guys saying early stoppage…

Browne was curled and covered up the WHOLE time. I don’t think even a single a strike landed flush.

Overeem got hit SQUARE in the f****** jaw, then took another two hammerfists that landed FLUSH, with Overeem in no position to cover his face, his hands were flailing off to the side.

You clowns still think its an early stoppage?

wtf?! Says, in 8-19-2013 at 13:13:19 from

wow… i know he was defending himself and all, but overeem had about 30 unanswered strikes. In many fights the ref stops it when a fighter is hurt and just curls up to prevent further damage.
Overeem literally got up right away, i think he should have allowed him a chance to get back in it before stopping it. I’m not a huge Overeem fan or anything, I just don’t see how the ref kept it going (also don’t see how he didn’t stop and warn overeem about the attempted illegal knee).

GOD Says, in 8-19-2013 at 15:06:49 from

with Pride rules over exaggeration reem would have won. he would have kneed brownes head.

Joe Dog Says, in 8-19-2013 at 19:14:54 from

Overeem has been knocked out close to a dozen times. He really should quit or be forced to retire. Just-the-same, I’d like to see some one like Roy Nelson knock him out one last time before he drifts off into his future of pugilistic dementia. With his history of multiple concussions and steroid use, he’s sure to suffer ill health effects as he ages.

zagor Says, in 8-19-2013 at 19:45:46 from

Why some of you say it was early stoppage?
Perhaps you wanted to see Alistair’s head hammered into the canvas? He should be thankful for ref stepping in……

straightAhead Says, in 8-20-2013 at 02:04:31 from

Inonsistent reffing!

Herb Dean would have stopped that fight when overreem was laying into Browne while brown was not responding.

Reem was KOed but if there was conisistency they would have stopped it when Brown was getting his ass kicked

popopo Says, in 8-20-2013 at 15:05:53 from

travis was on his nees blocking shots with his hand working as hard as he can to get back up overreem was flat on his back takeing shots it was not inconsistant reffing they were differnt situations

Joez Says, in 8-20-2013 at 20:07:44 from

Shogun Rua vs Dan Henderson – the first fight that comes to mind between two former PRIDE fighters. PRIDE was the freaking best.

Marx Says, in 8-21-2013 at 11:11:17 from

Overreem is still a kick-boxing monster, but I think his chin and his cage-sense are gone.

Joe Dog Says, in 8-21-2013 at 11:35:51 from

Correction: Overeem has been knocked out 11 times, 3 in kickboxing and 8 in mma. He should quit.
