I have a full time 3rd shift job and am a well worked independent automotive technician during the day. I am also a smaller guy, fighting at 155 mostly(though my next is at 145) and 5’8″ so that amount would more than likely make me look like Roseanne Barr. I am very against the use of actual steroids in the sport. The reason isn’t an advantage or anything performance based, but because of what they do. It is no secret that they enlarge your muscles, but what people don’t think about is your heart. Your heart is a muscle and overuse of steroids enlarge it as well, leading to inevitable chronic heart issues(cardiomyopathy). While professional athletes may choose physical strengths over longevity I don’t think it is healthy to knowingly allow it. Every kid wants to be a pro athlete and will do exactly what their idols do to get there. Log in to Reply Op_of_faith June 30, 2012 @Tempted-You are correct, Sir. I’ve just seen that most fighters I’ve encountered are in the “sacrifice for the sport” mode, so health concerns are not on the table (though they should be). While I get where you’re going we both know that most Athletes will look for what ever advantage they can get…I really don’t think it can be stopped. As far as the sport goes-I think it sucks that a GREAT fighter can lose to a GOOD fighter because one of them is on “T”. This is why I think disclosure is the best model. IF an athlete doesn’t care about their health or future (many seem not to-stupidity of youth IMO)then as long as they are forced to disclose the other fighters and organization can make a choice about whether to sanction the fight. BUT! they kind of have to though cause the way they train there body’s every day will reduce there test levels. And Allister has the body type of a bodybuilder and you cant blame him for that Log in to Reply « Older Comments Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
