ProFC 5 – Russia vs. Europe MMA fight video of Aleksander Emelianenko Vs. Ibragim Magomedov. The fight took place at Russia’s Palace of Sports on Saturday. Aleks Emelianenko, the younger brother of WAMMA heavyweight champion and MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko, had been signed by Affliction Entertainment and was expected to make his U.S. debut at Affliction 1. But the CASC halted his July 2008 fight with Paul Buentello on the eve of the bout. Neither Aleksander’s camp nor the CSAC has given an official reason for the cancellation other than saying the fighter failed to meet California’s licensing requirements.

I have to say, Aleks took a crushing overhand right that would have been a highlight reel knockout for almost any other fighter. what a chin. he immediatly stood up traded shots and defended a takedown. thats hardcore.

Man, Aleksander always reminds me more of Igor Vovchanchyn than Fedor, a brawler who can get hit in the head with a cinder block and still come back for more. Its a shame he couldn’t have fought on the Affliction card because I’m sure casual fans would have loved to see a punky Russian who fights like a bar brawler. Hopefully someone puts him on a real card next time instead of Russian fights no one sees.
