He’s only shot is that heel hook…. once he can’t pull that off, he gasses and he get’s beat. No different from Nate Marquart fight.. He needs to learn a new game plan besides that one submission. Good for him, he deserved to get knocked out.

I think that was not a twister attempt but a “groin lock”. Look on youtube for “Banana split submission” (i have no idea where they got that name from). That was invented (as far as I know) from Nino Schembri (his version has adjustments but basically it’s the same), who actually is a close friend (and from the same school) as Soneca, Belchior’s master. Nino pulled that one on Muzio de Angelis at a championship and since he didn’t know it, he didn’t tap, and as result, he got almost crippled and left the gymnasium on the stretcher.

Have to say the same: very impressed with Belcher!

He should’ve punched him a couple more times and make the ref pull him off for all the times he didn’t let go maybe make him dumber then he already is.

Palhares isnt at the top its because other fighters cant react to his strategy and strength. He’s already exposed and you’ll see his downfall now. One trick pony. Remember Thales? He’s not even heard of now. Yet he made it to the top with his style of bjj and was made to look like a fool against silva. It will not work now days, though it’s important to learn…one ASPECT will not do it.

Did Belcher just claim to be the “baddest man in mma on the ground”?

It was definitely a twister attempt, and he tried a banana split but palhares was too flexible. Belcher played with fire, he may think he’s the man on the ground, but palhares is far better than him, he just gassed and hasn’t quite translated it to MMA

Belcher’s victory is not unexpected from my point of view. Belcher comes to fight, and yes I know all fighters come to fight, but Belcher is willing to take the fight where it goes.

Belcher clearly didn’t try to step out of or complete a full escape stand-up position kicking Palhares in his ass and thighs.
